What does the fox say? YouTube lists top 2013 videos
MANILA – A comedy duo from Norway took the top spot in YouTube’s list of trending videos for 2013.
“The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)” by Ylvis was named the top trending video this year with over 276 million views.
The viral hit features people wearing animal costumes and imitating animal sounds, as they attempt to address the question, “what does the fox say?”
Second on the list is a version of the Harlem Shake dance craze by the Norwegian Army, which garnered more than 95 million views.
Landing in third place is “How Animals Eat Their Food” with over 88 million views, followed by Steve Kardynal’s parody of the Miley Cyrus hit “Wrecking Ball” (over 78 million views), “baby&me / the new evian film” which features dancing babies (over 67 million views), a Volvo ad featuring Van Damme (over 59 million views), a song titled “YOLO” featuring Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar (over 53 million views), a prank for the movie “Carrie” (over 50 million views), a “bad lip reading” clip featuring NFL players (over 44 million views), an an “epic rap battle” (over 42 million views).
Korean rapper Psy, who ruled YouTube in 2012 with his hit song “Gangnam Style,” ranked first in the video sharing site’s top music videos this year with “Gentleman,” which has over 598 million views.
This is followed by two Miley Cyrus hits – “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop” – and songs from Katy Perry (“Roar”) and Pink (“Just Give Me A Reason”).
The rest of the Top 10 music videos came from Robin Thicke (“Blurred Lines”), Rihanna (“Stay”), Naughty Boy (“La La La”), Selena Gomez (“Come & Get It”) and Avicii (“Wake Me Up”).
Psy also ruled YouTube’s Top 10 Videos for the Philippines at No. 1, with a cover of “Gentleman” ranking tenth. Other foreign acts in this list are Katy Perry with “Roar” (second place), Pink with “Just Give Me A Reason” (fourth place), and Miley Cyrus with “Wrecking Ball” (fifth place).
“Lord Patawad” by Basilio is the top local artist in the list at third place, followed by Jireh Lim’s “Magkabilang Mundo” (sixth place) and “Buko” (eighth place), and Daniel Padilla’s “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat” (ninth place).
Also a hit among Filipinos is an ad titled “Dove Real Beauty Sketches,” which ranked seventh.
