MANILA, Philippines – The country's first food truck market is set to open in Makati on Friday.

Organized by the people behind the hit Mercato Centrale weekend market in Taguig City, “Cucina Andare” will be located at the Glorietta Park in Makati City. It will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Cucina Andare will feature specialty and gourmet food trucks, vendors found in Mercato Centrale, and new offerings from home-based food business in Makati.

Some of the new food trucks are named Chef Broosy, GuaTruck, Shawarma Bros., while vendors include Mio Gelati, Paj Grill, Carlo’s Kitchen, Big Bob’s, Taclings, ManilaQ, Casa Goni, B Wings, Macheesemo and Chef Resty’s, among others

There will also be live acoustic performances for customers and visitors.

Blogger and Cucina Andare co-organizer Anton Diaz noted that the food truck trend reinvented the food scene in the United States.

“There are now popular gourmet trucks in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Australia, and people follow them wherever they go! Cucina Andare is inspired by the Din Din A Go Go in LA or the Off the Grid Food Truck Markets in San Francisco. We believe it’s right about time that food trucks make their debut in the Philippine foodie scene,” Diaz said in a blog post.
