Asiana Airlines is 2011 'Airline of the Year'

MANILA, Philippines – Korean national carrier Asiana Airlines is the world’s first airline to be distinguished as “Airline of the Year” by three different award bodies in three consecutive years.

Recently, Asiana Airlines won the 2011 Airline of the Year award from Global Traveler magazine. The award survey was conducted by the magazine among 20,000 subscribers from January to August this year.

Winners in 31 categories in the airline industry and 68 travel-related sections were chosen.

“All of Asiana joined hands to win the Airline of the Year award for three consecutive years. This achievement has never been accomplished in the history of the airline industry. We will return this gratitude towards our customers by giving the best of services and safety which suits the reputation of the Golden Grand Slam airline,” said Asiana Airlines President and CEO Young-doo Yoon.

Asiana also picked up six other awards during the ceremony held at the Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel: Best Airline for Onboard Service and Best Airline for Flight Attendants, Best Transpacific Airline, Best International First Class Wines on the Wing, Best Champagne International and Best Red Wine International First Class.

Aside from the Global Traveler magazine, Asiana Airlines also reaped the same title from the Air Transport World in 2009, and the World Airline Awards of Skytrax.

Asiana Airlines flies daily from Manila, Clark and Cebu to its award-winning hub in Incheon International Airport, and to destinations across Asia, Europe and the US.
