Pinoys pray for 'Sendong' victims via Twitter
MANILA, Philippines - "Sendong" (international name: Washi) became one of the top trending local topics on microblogging site Twitter on Sunday after several Filipinos sent their prayers to victims of the tropical storm which killed hundreds of people.
It ranked sixth on the list at 4:45 p.m.
Celebrities and ordinary people turned to Twitter to pray for the victims and to express their willingness to help in rescue and relief operations.
Below are some of their messages:
"Prayers to the victims and families of typhoon Sendong down south!" basketball player Chris Tiu tweeted.
"TS Sendong ravaged Mindanao leaving 436 dead. Red Cross needs immediate cash assistance," actress Anne Curtis wrote.
"Prayer warriors, please pray for the victims of bagyong Sendong," actress Angel Locsin wrote.
"Sad Christmas for some of our kababayans down south [who are] victims of Sendong. Send them love, prayers and relief goods," news anchor TJ Manotoc tweeted.
Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, for his part, sang "Lead Me Lord" on ABS-CBN musical variety show "ASAP Rocks" on Sunday.
On Twitter, Valenciano said he dedicated the song to victims of the tropical storm.
