MANILA, Philippines -- Alodia Gosiengfiao has turned her fascination with Japanese pop culture into a successful career in the Philippines, where she has been hailed as the country's "cosplay queen."

Now, it is the turn of the Japanese to be fascinated with the 24-year-old Filipino actress and artist.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Gosiengfiao revealed that she recently went to Japan to record an album.

"We did a recording. I'm going back there before mag-Christmas to do more work -- entertainment, photo shoots, video shoots. Iilan lang siguro ang naka-penetrate sa Japan and I'm so honored to be part of that," she said.

For the album, Gosiengfiao had to learn Nihonggo, although she said she also recorded English versions of the songs.

"Hindi pa din ako makapaniwala. Bakit ako? I mean bakit ako e ang dami daming magagaling na singers at magagaling na entertainers. Siguro po I'm very passionate in what I do. I think nakikita din ng ibang tao yon," she said.

Gosiengfiao, who graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University, started cosplaying at 15, encouraged by fellow anime and video game enthusiasts in an Internet fan forum.

Her success as a cosplayer led to numerous international appearances including Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia.

In 2010, Gosiengfiao attended the annual San Diego Comic-Con and landed a role in the documentary "Comic Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope" by filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, who also did "Supersize Me."

Recently, Gosiengfiao was named one of the ambassadors for the cable channel Animax Asia. She was also a co-host of the ABS-CBN show "Laugh Out Loud" and appeared in the Star Cinema movie "The Reunion."

According to Gosiengfiao, her Japanese recording came about when she attended the annual Tokyo Game Show convention.

"First time kong pumunta doon kasi nakaka-touch dahil nagkaroon ng welcome party para sa akin doon. It's a really huge event," she said.

For Gosiengfiao, fantasies do really come true.
