LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Miss Universe candidates have mixed emotions about the upcoming coronation.
While they are competing with each other, they have also become good friends over the last month, making them a bit sad as they go their separate ways after the pageant.
“I’m so excited too, but at the same time, I’m a little sad,” said Miss Peru Nicole Faveron.
We saw the girls do some ramp walking in their long gowns. Their bodies are a perfect 10, the smile is there and their hair worn in the famous Miss Universe fashion.
The taller girls also stand out -- Miss Lebanon, Miss Georgia and Miss China.
Outgoing Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes of Angola got a lot of attention as she is making her final appearances as Miss Universe before she passes on her crown.
Another favorite is Miss South Africa, who said she has been preparing for the pageant for one year.
Miss Philippines Janine Tugonon is determined to give her best performance for the big night, and is also prepared for the move to New York should she win the crown.
“Sabi ko, ‘Lord, alam ko namang I’m here for a reason because of You.’ So sana, ‘di ba, mauwi natin ‘yung korona this year,” said Tugonon.
The winner will be decided by the 10 celebrity finals judges, among them: singer-songwriter Cee Lo Green, homerun-hitter of the World Series Champions San Francisco Giants Pablo Sandoval, “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto, and Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarette of Mexico.
Travel, a modeling contract, ambassador for the Miss Universe for various charities -- these are some of the prizes awaiting the next Miss Universe, a dream life for one of the girls after the coronation night.
