MANILA, Philippines – There is no stopping the growth of the Italian-American chain California Pizza Kitchen in the country as it recently opened its 10th restaurant at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
This after it put up branches at the Filipino Chinatown Binondo last October, and another one at Harbor Point Mall in Subic, Zambales.
The newly opened CPK at the W Global Center boasts of a new design with its brighter walls and furniture in earth tones and natural colors.
“The new look is near to the US ‘sawgrass design,’ which had its prototype in Sawgrass Mills shopping mall in Florida. Given our close partnership with CPK US, we were allowed to source our own materials locally, like our new tables and chairs, flatware and glassware,” said Global Restaurant Concepts Inc. (GRCI) president and chief executive officer Archie Rodriguez.
GRCI is CPK’s partner in the Philippines.
Rodriguez added that the new CPK restaurant features a new hearth oven, which cuts the cooking time of their pizzas and makes them more crispy and tasty.
Along with CPK’s new look and feel is the addition of fresh items to the menu, from appetizers to main courses and desserts.
There is the Anchovy Pizza, a thin-crust pizza topped with crumbled anchovy fillets, sliced fresh tomatoes, garlic and fresh mozzarella with Neapolitan sauce; the Italian Sausage and Pepperoni Calzone, which has mozzarella, marinara sauce and roasted garlic bulbs; and the Cheese Steak Sandwich, which uses USDA steak strips sautéed with button mushrooms, yellow onions, mozzarella and queso quesadilla cheeses.
For dessert, CPK now offers the Caramel Banana Tart and the Caramel Hazelnut Cake, while the new beverage menu includes mimosas, wine spritzers and fresh lemonade.
With Christmas just around the corner, CPK is offering the Holiday Party Meal, a package where customers can choose a pizza and a family-size pasta to go with a carrot cake and a bottle of softdrink. The promo, which will be available until January 6, 2013, costs P995.
“It’s a great offer for quick holiday get-togethers for family and friends. The Holiday Party Meal is a convenient choice for sudden celebrations. Just order from CPK and you become a guest in your party,” Rodriguez said.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez said Filipinos can expect to see three to four more CPK outlets next year, adding that they will slowly renovate the old branches to keep up with the chain’s new design.
CPK opened its first restaurant in Beverly Hills, California in 1985, with the Original BBQ Chicken pizza as its signature item. The chain now has more than 250 locations in more than 30 states and 11 countries, including the Philippines.
The country’s first CPK restaurant was opened at the Glorietta 3 mall in Makati City in 1998.
