Shortly after her plane landed at around 5:41 a.m., the Filipina beauty held a press conference, where she thanked her family, her fans in the Philippines, and the Filipinos who went to Las Vegas to support her.
Tugonon told the media that despite not being able to bring home the coveted crown and title, what's important is she gave her best performance.
She was also proud of how she handled the question and answer portion of the pageant, noting each judge may have had a different opinion or a favored candidate in mind.
When asked if she is eyeing to enter show business, the beauty queen said it isn't her priority at the moment although she is open to the idea.
Tugonon was crowned first runner-up at the 61st Miss Universe pageant held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Wednesday night (Thursday morning in Manila).
Miss USA Olivia Culpo bagged the crown, while Venezuela's Irene Sofia Esser Quintero finished as 2nd runner-up.
Miss Australia Renae Ayris was crowned 3rd runner-up, followed by Miss Brazil Gabriela Markus, who finished as 4th runner-up. -- From a report by Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News
