The BlackBerry Curve 9380 is one of the five RIM smartphones that are expected to be available in the country starting January 13.

MANILA, Philippines -- Five new BlackBerry smartphones are expected to be available in the Philippines starting Friday, January 13, Research in Motion (RIM) said in a statement posted in its website.

The new smartphones are based on the BlackBerry 7 operating system, which features improved browing, voice-activated searches and the ability to manage personal content separately from corporate content.

"The new BlackBerry 7 based smartphones offer customers a truly outstanding mix of communications, multimedia, productivity and social connectivity features,” Hastings Singh, RIM's vice president for South Asia, said in the statement. “We are excited to expand the BlackBerry 7 portfolio with the launch of five new models, providing Philippine customers with a broader selection of handsets to match their lifestyle.”

The five new BlackBerry phones are:

• BlackBerry Bold 9790: With touch display and keyboard, this smartphone is powered by a 1 GHz processor and comes in a narrow design that's easy to carry and comfortable to hold. It includes 8GB of onboard memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB of additional storage.
• All-Touch BlackBerry Curve 9380: The first touch screen smartphone in the BlackBerry Curve family, it comes with pre-installed social networking apps, including BlackBerry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter and Social Feeds apps. It also features a 5-megapixel camera with flash and video recording.
• BlackBerry Torch 9810: Building on the popular design of the BlackBerry Torch 9800, the new smartphone has a touch display and a distinctive BlackBerry keyboard that easily slides out to allow faster typing.
• All-Touch BlackBerry Torch 9860: Its 3.7-inch display is the largest ever on a BlackBerry smartphone and it is optimized for displaying web pages, photos, videos, and gaming experiences.
• BlackBerry Bold 9900: The premium BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone is now available in pure white. This is the thinnest BlackBerry smartphone yet at only 10.5mm, crafted with premium materials including a brushed stainless steel frame.
