iPhone 4S may be PH's best-selling iPhone
MANILA, Philippines - Demand for iPhone 4S in the Philippines has reached record levels, Globe Telecom Inc. announced, with the new handset outpacing the volume of orders when the company launched the iPhone 4 last year.
In a statement, Globe said online pre-orders for iPhone 4S are now in "thousands."
Apple's newest handset will hit the Philippine market on December 16.
"Online pre-orders for iPhone 4S on Globe Telecom's website hit fever pitch, with thousands signing up for the latest iPhone model," the company said.
Globe started taking pre-orders for iPhone 4S last December 1, the same day rival Smart Communications Inc. put up its own registration site.
Globe used to have an exclusivity deal with Apple over the iPhone in the country.
The Philippines is part of the third wave of countries where the iPhone 4S will be released. Other countries that will get the iPhone 4S on December 16 include Brazil, Russia, Chile, Malaysia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey and Taiwan.
"By year-end, iPhone 4S will be carried by 100 carriers in 70 countries worldwide," Globe said.
