MANILA, Philippines - Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda rejected Friday rumors that Malacañang is paying as much as P400 million to every senator to convince them to vote for Chief Justice Renato Corona’s conviction in the Senate impeachment trial.

“Wala pong katotohanan d’yan. Yan po ay propaganda lang. It’s a war of text messages. There’s no truth to that. We will convict based on the merits of the case,” Lacierda said.

He also said he will leave it to the House of Representatives impeachment prosecution panel to respond to criticisms about its presentation of purported evidence against Corona even before the Senate impeachment trial has started. “Their spokesperson has already settled that matter,” he said.

Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas Jr. earlier denied that he broke the Rules of Impeachment when he called for a press conference to discuss some of the evidence to be presented in the Corona impeachment trial.

Tupas, head of the 11-man House of Representatives prosecution panel, said he merely stated a fact when he accused Corona of failing to declare his luxury condominium unit in Taguig reportedly worth more than P14 million.

The lawmaker said he did not touch on the merits of the case. He added that the impeachment trial rules on public disclosures take effect when the trial begins on January 16.

Tupas said the prosecution has a roomful of evidence against Corona as well as a host of witnesses willing to testify against the Chief Justice. The witnesses are supposedly insiders from the judiciary.

may we ask the palace to

may we ask the palace to publish the assets and liabilities of secretary ochoa...

Anong "we will convict" - bobo!

Anong "we will convict", bobo! Di ka senador. Sa kabobohan mo lacierda nahuhuli ka sa bibig, naku naman!

sniffing

the prosecutor and the defense, they're like dogs sniffing each other, siezing each other before the clash. as long as they don't divulge what should not be divulged, it's fine with me.

big, fat lie

dati-rati sabi nila 1million daw ang pinamimigay bilang bribe sa mga senator, ngayon pinalobo to 100million. who is the liar reporting all these? he'she cannot even get it right.

Subjudice: Its pros and cons

While subjudice may inhibit the viewing of the prosecution's evidence until the trial proper, on the one hand, its liberal interpretation can also allow the public a view of what wealth of government was plundered and whether there will be a serious effort to sequester them and criminally prosecute the offenders and put them behind bars.

subjudice should not apply

those senators who advocated for the subjudice policy will acquit corona. those senators who did not advocate for subjudice but voted to implement it either will acquit corona or are simply ignorant or what they are doing.

the prosecution team, malacanang, the press, and anybody with a mouth or a pen or a computer, should continue to speak out their minds on this issue for the benefit of the public, as the latter are, in the ultimate analysis, the complainants in this case and should therefore have the absolute right to know and hear everything there is to be said about it.

INSTANT IMPEACHMENT LIKE INSTANT COFFEE

HINDI AFFROD?

hindi daw kasi afford ni CJ yan considering that CJ only gained his master of law degree in harvard university. di nya talaga afford yung condo unit kasi dati nyang trabaho eh special counsel for DBP lang naman at senior VP of commercial bank of manila. corona can't afford yunng installment na condo kahit pa Senior Officer siya sa Tax Division ng SGV, lol! eh hangang ngayon eh binabayaran pa rin nga...

kayo naman guys masyadong gullib, di ba tupaz? maniwala na lang tayo kay tupaz, bar flunker... este lider ata yan ng justiis committe!

THE HACIENDA LUISITA MEETING

The Tribune source said that the plot to oust Corona was hatched at the Bahay Matanda, the ancestral house of the Cojuangcos after elderly members of the Cojuangco clan reportedy [sic] berated President Aquino for attacking members of the High Court which they believe was the reason the SC justices revoked the stock distribution option and ordered the distribution of the [Hacienda Luisita] sugar estate to its tenants.

“From the time of (President Ramon) Magsasay, the hacienda land was never lost. When Martial Law came, we still did not lose our land. GMA (Gloria Arroyo) and Cory had a fight during GMA’s presidency, we Cojuangcos still did not lose our land. Now that that you (Noynoy) are president, we lose the hacienda!”, the Tribune source quoted an elderly Cojuangco as he berated Aquino in the vernacular.

“You are the reason for our loss of the hacienda, because even the Supreme Court you had to fight with!,” the elderly Cojuangco was further quoted as telling the President.

seemingly, the 11-member prosecution panel have heard the statement of frank chavez that this impeachment is a battle of propaganda. as days goes on, things are getting crystal clear.

the palace has constantly denied meddling with the affairs of the house of reps. however, their actions and contradicting statements showed their crappy hypocrisyx. nonoy's hands on the impeachment of cj is too evident to be denied. this is supported by the admission of rep. sonny belmonte that the pres. thank him for a job well done in a text msg. pol. adv. Llmas is very vocal in saying that the evidence of prosecution against CJ is very strong. while lacierda made it public his call for the SC not to intervene. the truth is nonoy bribed (PDAF) the congress to vote on the impeachment of merci and for the passage of ARMM law enabling noy to appoint officers. now we've been witness how a constitutionally defective articles of impeachment reached the senate. articles of impeachment were instantly signed without the constitutional requirement of verification. it is like signing a blank sheet of paper.

those of refused to sign merci's impeachment like tiangco had their pork witheld by the palace after refusing to sign merci's impeachment. now it happened for the second time, tiangco could no longer stomach this admin's action flexing its muscle to a co-equal part of the govt. rep. mandanas was immediately removed from being the chairman of house committee on ways and means a day after he refused to sign the impeachment of the cj.

before the impeachment, it has been reported that pnoy had a one-on-one talk with leaders of the coalition. neil tupaz was tasked to finalize the impeachment complaint. rep. sonny belmonte and majority leader gonzales had to ensure that they will get no less than 95 signatories. several weeks ago, aquino, gonzales and belmonte had a meeting in a restaurant to finalize corona's impeachment.

immediately after the meeting of the liberals reported in media, the articles of impeachment were signed by 188 house members in less than 2 hours. impeachment came about shortly after SC decided on luisita case. apparently, pnoy couldn't hide his joy and publicly thank the house leadership for the ultra-super-mega fast impeachment.

if pnoy succeeds, this will lead to a Judiciary held hostage by the executive. coupled by a a prostituted congress who can't refuse PDAF. this will make pnoy the most powerful president of this country without declaring martial law.

subjudice should not apply

impeachment is a political not a judicial process. why senators agreed to the subjudice policy is beyond me. it only favors corona; shields him from negative publicity and comments to reduce pressure to resign. the rationale given (that it kills surprise evidence during the trial) is stupid, as, in fairness, corona should be given all information necessary to defend case against, and should not have to defend impromptu against any surprise evidence during trial. anyway, any seasoned trial atty knows that you can always ask for a continuation in view of any new evidence presented previously unknown to a defendant (or respondent) so he can reasonably defend against it. suprise evidence will only cause undue delay. what surpise, then? corona should be convicted based on strong evidence, not on surprise.

further, the people have a right to know and be informed.
