I may be the collateral damage in this controversy but the truth is, I am the main target.

Iyong mga umaatake sa akin ngayon, gusto akong tanggalin sa DOJ, on or before February 10. That is the main point of the exercise. So kahit anong kasalanan, kahit maliit, ang nangyari traffic offense, kahit na nadapa ako sa kalye gagamitin nila maalis lang ako sa DOJ by February 10.

I have been a rebel against not one, but two governments. I have sacrificed my life for this country. Nagrerebelde ako, nag-underground ako only to realize that a coup d' etat is useless if there is no rule of law. And this is exactly what is happening to us now. Bakit? In the last several coup attempts, it is always the Department of Justice that is in the forefront in the defense of this republic. More than the soldier, more than the policeman, it is the Department of Justice that convinces the people that the way to change the government is election, and not coup d' etat. It is the Department of Justice that sticks its head out to face the forces that wants to belittle this government and destroy the Republic.

It is for this reason that the institution of the Department of Justice is being destroyed. It is for this reason that the reputation of the Department of Justice is being eroded. But how can you erode a 101-year old reputation? How can you put question to the integrity of the lives of many men and women who work for less than the salary of a casino dealer? How can you erode the integrity of prosecutors who earns less than a fresh law school graduate in a big Makati office? You cannot. And the only way to erode the Department of Justice is to insinuate corruption, and corruption to its inner core.

In the past we have seen many attempts to destabilize government. Inumpisahan recently ang Jocjoc Bolante at fertilizer scam. Hindi tumalab. Ngayon sinundan ng PDEA-DOJ issue. A very, very simple issue of bribery was turned out to be psywar lang pala. Pero iyang psywar na iyan has been hogging the newspaper for the last one week.

What is my role, to make a phone call by virtue of Section 15 on ethical standards that I have to attend to all requests? What is my role, na nagdeliver ako ng papel? I completely denied that. Yet pinapalaki, and all my explanations are never given light in the newspaper. Inabswelto ako ng abogado ng akusado, hindi man lang lumabas sa diyaryo. Inabswelto ako ng PDEA, hindi man lang lumabas sa diyaryo. Why? You want to destroy the DOJ. Because at every coup attempt, it is always the DOJ which is at the forefront of defending this Republic.

So in war, this is what you call artillery fire. Hihinaan niyo yung kalaban. So even before you can have a coup d' etat, destroy the institutions that are going to defend.

You can see the bias of all these. Ang gusto palabasin ng iba, lumalabas sa diyaryo. Iyong gusto nating palabasin, hindi lumalabas sa diyaryo. Nakita natin sa congressional hearing. My face was all over the newspaper and the television. Ako ang naka-banner headline. Walang accusation sa akin on bribery but the insinuations were all over there. Yet when we accuse the accuser, nobody will say anything. And it was never mentioned in the newspaper. Samantalang noong tinanong yung unang nag-allege, pinayagan ng Kongreso na magkaroon ng closed door.  Where is justice there? I am not even asking for justice, I am just asking for fairness.

We cannot allow a 101-year institution to be destroyed. We have to stick together. Let us fight for the truth. Let us seek the truth. Even if it means all of us getting inconvenienced, so be it. Kung papahirapan tayo as I have been in the last one week: tinitira sa radyo, tinitira sa TV, tinitira sa kung saan-saan na lang, sa internet, then so be it. But at the end of the day, we shall all unite, we shall seek the truth. At kahit ano pa ang mangyari, let justice be done till the heavens fall.
