MANILA, Philippines - Presidential race frontrunner Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on Friday kept mum about reports that his sister, Kris, allegedly confronted and shouted invectives at a female fan of her husband, basketball player James Yap, and the fan's mother. 

In an interview, Aquino said he could not comment on the issue since he had yet to talk to his sister.

"Nabasa ko lang sa Inquirer pero wala pa akong masasabi dahil sa hindi pa kami nagkikita ni Kris dahil sa mga provincial sortie. Hindi pa ako pwede magsalita dahil hindi pa kami nagkikita ng kapatid ko," he told ABS-CBN News.

Aquino is the only son of freedom icons Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino. He is currently running for president under the Liberal Party banner.

Newspaper reports on Friday said ABS-CBN TV host Kris Aquino-Yap allegedly berated a certain Mayen Austria and Austria's mother at the latter's home in Valle Verde, Pasig City last Wednesday. A Philippine Star report said Aquino-Yap confronted Austria after the latter called the TV host's husband to confide her love troubles.

A Philippine Daily Inquirer report also quoted Austria's uncle saying that "I now know who I will not vote for" after the incident.

Aquino-Yap, meanwhile, denied that she swore and created a scene at the Austria family's home.

"In my 25 years of being in the public eye, nobody can ever say that it is in my nature na magmura or gumawa ng skandalo. I didn't shout or create a commotion," she said in a text message sent to ABS-CBN News.

"The mother of the woman cited in the Inquirer article graciously came to their gate and we had a peaceful conversation. I simply made my discomfort known about her daughter's actuations towards my husband," Kris said.

"My family received the text that Ms. Mayen Austria sent around. In it, she admitted to having 'chemical depression and could easily take an overdose of pills.' My brother and sisters advised me not to speak further about the issue," she added.
