Miriam, Loren to miss 1st day of Corona trial

MANILA, Philippines – Two senators will miss the first day of the historic impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Sen. Miriam Santiago will miss today’s proceedings because of hypertension. Santiago, who recently landed a spot in the International Criminal Court, has been under medical supervision since last week due to persistent headache and nausea.
Aside from Santiago, Sen. Loren Legarda will also skip today’s trial because she is in the United States.
Legarda’s purpose for travelling in the US was not disclosed.
The two senators have yet to make an announcement on when they will come back to fill in their seats as judges in the trial of Corona. – report from Ruby Tayag, dzMM
