'Ivler used 2 guns, armor-piercing bullets'
MANILA, Philippines - Jason Aguilar Ivler, the main suspect in the murder of a Palace official's son, used two weapons in fighting off police before his arrest in his Quezon City home Monday.
Aside from a baby Armalite rifle, Ivler also used a .45 caliber pistol in fighting off police who had come to serve a warrant for his arrest. Police said an M-16 rifle used by the NBI agents during the shootout was also pierced by a bullet.
Rolando Argavioso, NBI Intelligence Service chief operations head agent, also told radio dzMM that Ivler could have used armor-piercing bullets during the shootout with NBI agents.
He said this was the reason why one of the NBI agents, Anna Lira Labao, was still wounded on the chest despite wearing body armor.
"All the operatives had bullet proof vests but Ivler used armor piercing bullets, which is why the bullet still pierced the vest," he told radio dzMM. He noted that Ivler was wearing a bandolier when he was arrested.
He said Labao is still undergoing treatment at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center but is already out of danger. He said Labao will be transferred to a hospital near the NBI.
Aside fom Labao, Ivler also wounded NBI Special Action Unit head Julito Magno after a bullet grazed his thigh.
NBI officials, meanwhile, said they are readying obstruction of justice charges against Ivler's mother, Marlene, for hiding her son in her home for the past two months.
NBI Director Nestor Mantaring earlier said Marlene Aguilar tried to stop the agents from entering the house on Monday. He said Ivler was hiding in a storeroom when he started shooting at the NBI agents.
Ivler is undergoing treatment at the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds to the abdomen and shoulder during his arrest. His mother is currently detained at the NBI Special Action Unit office.
Ivler has been the subject of a police manhunt after allegedly shooting dead Renato Ebarle, Jr., the son of assistant secretary Renato Ebarle, Sr., during a traffic altercation along Boni Serrano Avenue in Quezon City on November 18, 2009.

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday released the results of the ballistic tests on the handgun used by Jason Aguilar Ivler in both the November 18 killing of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. and during the shootout with NBI operatives last Monday.
The bullet taken from the body of Ebarle Jr., son of Palace official Renato Ebarle Sr., the bullets found and taken by police from the vehicle of Ebarle Jr. last November 18 , and the bullets found in the residence of Ivler's mother, Marlene Aguilar, in Blue Ridge, Quezon City matched with the test bullets from the Kimber .45 caliber pistol recovered from Ivler during the encounter last Monday with arresting NBI agents.
Ivler allegedly shot dead Ebarle Jr. following a traffic altercation near the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Ivler was shot and injured during Monday's encounter with NBI operatives. He is currently recuperating at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. -- report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
Marlen Aguilar is a loser
I met Marlene Aguilar several months ago before her son murdered this innocent man. At that time she was a very snobbish arrogant and self absorbed. More then anything she wants to feel important. She just boasts and boasts about her education in the USA. How she knows so many international officials, How she needed 4 body guards when she travels to the USA. This woman is nothing short of a compulsive liar. She wants everyone to think she is so important when in reality she is a nobody and always has been. Other then being a criminal nobody in the Philippines or the USA knows who she is at all. During the investigation she told the police she made a lot of enemies with her books. That is yet another lie by her. Believe me Nobody in the Philippines or the USA knows anything about her stupid books. Once again she is trying to make everyone believe she is important. Talking with her she tries to make you believe she is such a international icon. During my discussions with her I caught her lying several times about her false credentials. This sorry excuse for a woman believes all Filipinos are very stupid and below her. From reading the story of how her son was caught it turned out to be her own stupidity was the reason for his capture. If I`m interpreting the news correctly this fool Marlene was trying to let the NBI know she was educated in the USA and had written a few stupid books. Again, this is where she thinks she is so above everybody else she could deter the NBI from their investigation. WHAT A COMPLETE IDIOT !! I hope the law comes down hard on both her and her son. Her bail is just 12,000 ? With a bail that low what makes the NBI think that she isnt going to go into hiding as well ? She is responsible for 2 NBI officials getting shot and nearly killed. She is responsible for all the money the NBI wasted in order to search for her idiotic son. She is responsible for the jailing of the innocent OFW. Her bail should be at least the same amount of the costs for all of those things combined !!! Her son learned to be a criminal and a ill of society because of his mother. Finally NBI got this stupid monkey. I agreed that her mom is a nutcase. Last year she said that CIA has something to do with it because of her book that was launch on the same day he killed Ebarle Jr. CIA won't waste US tax payer money on her. Also I hope Ivler get charges from his 2004 road rage murder too.

while looking at ivler the killer's mom, i remembered carrie's nutcase mom in the movie "Carrie". she sure looks like her, only that this marlene woman is much much uglier and has a more advanced case of psychosis. no, she doesnt belong to the nbi detention, rather, to a sanitarium!
Bullet-Proof vests
LEVEL IIIA "soft armor" Vest will be penetrated by a 5.56X45 M-16 ammo definitely, the LEVEL III Plates(2KG per plate,capable of stopping a 7.62X51mm, M14 from 15M range) and LEVEL IV Plate(2.5KG per plate,capable of stopping a 7.62X51mm,M14 "AP" Round) I do not think the NBI officer who was hit wore a LEVEL III Plate,but only a LEVEL IIIA Soft armor vest which can only stop most of pistol ammunition except the .50 Action Express(AE) and I didn't see anyone in the video with body armor, all i saw was the NBI shirt which is definitely a normal looking shirt.
Mom ni Ivler
Mamamatay Tao talaga, tama ang sinabi ng kunsintidora nyang nanay, sa diyos lang susuko itong si Killer Ivler. Kaya lang ang tanong sino ang diyos nitong Ivler na to, si satanas yata ang diyos nitong si ivler dahil malinaw sa pang-anim na utos ng Diyos na "Thou shall not Kill".
Dapat sa nanay nitong si ivler makulong din dahil numero unong kunsintidora. Obvious na obvious na obstruction of justice, sa basement lang nagtatago ang anak eh nagpunta na raw sa hawaii at may email pa kunwari, tapos kunwari ulit pinasusuko nya na pang famas ang drama! Sobrang mapagkunwari itong nanay ng Mamamatay taong si Ivler na to, dapat makulong din!
May Armor Ba?
From the videos, parang wala naman body armor ah. naka-NBI shirt lang yung arresting team.
I have some reservations on the way they carted away Ivler. Parang may mali sa procedure. And bakit ganun, ang dami tao and may media pa.
At any rate, congrats to the NBI team.
