Retired justice to probe Gregory Ong's role in pork scam
MANILA - The Supreme Court will assign a retired justice to probe Sandiganbayan Justice Gregory Ong’s alleged role in the pork scam.
In a statement, SC spokesman Theodore Te said an earlier inquiry into the matter has now become a full blown administrative case. The SC has yet to name the retired justice.
“Based on sworn testimony given before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing called by Senator TG Guingona, the Court motu propio had asked Justice Ong to explain why he had been identified by [Marina] Sula and [Benhur] Luy as the contact of Janet Lim-Napoles," Te said.
"Justice Ong had submitted his explanation to the Court en banc. Today's action ends the motu propio inquiry and commences the administrative case against Justice Ong,” he added.
Luy and Sula, pork scam whistleblowers, earlier alleged Ong was one of the personalities who frequently visited alleged pork scam queen Napoles at her office in Ortigas.
They also claimed Ong was a familiar face in Napoles’ parties.
