MANILA, Philippines - A total of 52% of Filipinos would have picked Sen. Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III while 44% would have chosen Sen. Manny Villar had a two-man presidential race been held last December 27 to 28, according to a special Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by the Villar camp.

The survey, disclosed by the SWS on Thursday, asked 2,100 respondents the question: Among the names found in this list, who will you probably vote for as President of the Philippines if elections were held today?

The survey has a plus/minus 2.2% margin of error.

The SWS said it disclosed the results of the survey on Thursday after the sponsor authorized its release.

The same question was asked in an October 1-4 SWS survey. The results showed that 65% would have chosen Aquino, while 28% would have picked Villar.

The Villar camp said the survey results showed that Villar had significantly cut Aquino's lead from 37 percentage points in October to 8 percentage points in December.

Other scenarios

Aside from a list that contained only the names of Aquino and Villar, the respondents were also asked to choose from lists that had more names of presidential candidates, namely: former President Joseph Estrada, Lakas-Kampi-CMD's Gilbert Teodoro, Brother Eddie Villanueva, Sen. Richard Gordon, Jamby Madrigal, and Ang Kapatiran's JC de los Reyes.

The SWS said four other scenarios were also tested in the December 27-28 survey.

From a list showing 7 names without Estrada, Aquino got 49%; Villar 38%; Teodoro 6%; Villanueva 2%; Gordon 1%; Madrigal 1%; de Los Reyes 0.3%.

From a list showing 7 names without Teodoro, Aquino remained on top of the  survey with 45% followed by Villar with 35%, Estrada 14%, Gordon and Villanueva 2% each, Madrigal 1%, de los Reyes 0.4%.

In a 3-way race, 50% chose Aquino followed by Villar with 40% and Teodoro 7%. A separate 3-way survey, meanwhile, still showed Aquino leading with 47%,Villar 37%, and Estrada 14%.

Gutom???

Gutom?

Let's support our Government. Our President may not be perfect, but he has the best intentions. Most importantly, He's not corrupt.

pagnanalo si noynoy

Pagnanalo si Noynoy siguradong gutom at baka ang kain na lang ng pinoy isang beses na lang sa isang araw. Siguradong mahal na ang lahat. Ang libre lang siguro ay buladas.

If Noynoy can, I can

Do you guys really want to have a dull, mediocre guy with pathetic credentials who has never run anything even a family, more so, running away from responsibilities like marriage, for your president? Honestly? Oh come on.
Even I can make my resume appear worthy enough to measure up with the likes of Gibo, Villar, Gordon and even Villanueva and JC.
I’m sure you noticed that my IQ is not very high and I’m not as eloquent as a call center agent but my family is rich enough to send me to ateneo to get my bachelors in economics and that should be enough to do the trick. Besides educational background is one of the few things I can’t be creative with.
I know I don’t really have what it takes to lead and manage something but no matter. My mom and uncles are quite influential so I can be chairman of some coops and president of some clubs that should cover the leadership section. Hey, I also get to sit for various positions in my family’s political party.
I’m not really into making laws but I’ll be a legislator anyway just because I can. I know my colleagues would trust me to chair any committee but I would count them in my resume as well so that the Filipino people wouldn’t notice the ZERO number of bills in congress.
With this resume I’m that the Filipino people wouldn’t mind if:
Gibo is smarter and more eloquent than me: UP law, bar topnotcher, Harvard Masters of Law and all; executive experience; real corporate chairman and CEO.
Villar is smarter and more capable and than me: UP accountancy, UP Masters in Business, entrepreneur, created wealth, created a business empire, created jobs, one of top filers of bills and laws, presided over the two congress, etc. etc.
Gordon is smarter and more accomplished than me: UP law, solid public service and corporate experience with highly visible results (e.g. mayor, SBMA chairman ( definitely not a cooperative), tourism secretary etc. ).
Even if Villanueva, a former PUP economics professor now a leader of a 12 million strong religious org, or JC de Castro, UP Public administration and theological schools in the US, have far more IQ, leadership skills and spirituality than me, I’m sure the Filipinos wouldn’t even notice.
But wait, Noynoy has something that I cannot produce, manipulate or create. Noynoy’s got a dad who’s a national hero, a mother who’s virtue overshadowed the mendiola and luisita massacres and other ills of the Philippines and a sister who got all the brains, wit and charisma of their parents . And of course, I don’t have the backing of a whole network in exchange for a long overdue and perpetual “utang na loob.”
So I wouldn’t bother running. The May elections would be nothing more than a vain yet necessary ritual to coronate Noynoy as the anointed president of the Philippines.
Why? Because the Filipino people just doesn’t get it.

Landslide

Here in the States, that figure would be considered as a landslide for Noynoy. I'm glad some of the hardcore Villar fans are seeing a glint of hope despite of. Will see what the rest of the nation says come election day.

Keep in mind, election day should be about us, not them. What is good for Manila doesn't translate what's good for Cebu or Maguindanao for that matter. This is not a popularity contest for the candidate, but who is the best to lead. Also keep in mind that there is a reason why we have a cabinet in every administration. It's by design that a pool of talent will be derived to assist the head of the executive office in their agenda. So therefore a track record is kinda moot in regards to some of the argument that has been presented. However, experience is always a plus and that can vary in several areas of exposure where you may did well here, but that doesn't equate that it's the answer for all.

You guys have a bless day and have fun! I think as a country, we have a long way to go in regards to the mean issue which is Unity. It's all a mindset or idea of where you wanna be.
