SELDA bats for ML victims' compensation bill
MANILA - Members of the Samahan ng mga Ex-detainee Laban sa Detensyon at Aresto (SELDA) held a rally outside the Senate on Wednesday to push for the final approval of a bill granting compensation for victims of human rights abuses during martial law.
SELDA national coordinator Jigs Clamor said the bill would be a landmark law and a first of its kind in Asia if finally passed.
He said victims of human rights violations during the Marcos regime have been waiting for so long for the law's passage.
The proposed law is pending at the bicameral conference committee.
