“Almost 70 percent of the cancer has gone away.”

Kris Aquino, daughter of former president Corazon Aquino, who is battling colon cancer, made this revelation on “The Buzz” Sunday.

This was what test results showed when the elder Aquino underwent a medical test late December of last year. Early this month, the television-host actress announced “a marked improvement” in her mother’s condition but she did not provide other details.

During “The Buzz” Sunday, she disclosed this information after getting a go-signal from the former leader, according to Kris.
 
Kris also revealed that in November of last year her mother also underwent selective internal radiation therapy, a technology that delivers radiation directly to the tumors. 

“When she was diagnosed in March [of last year], we didn’t think she would make it to this birthday and yet she’s fighting and improving,” she said.

The former president, the widow of Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr., celebrated her 76th birthday Sunday.  A Mass was held at 11 a.m. in Makati City. The Aquino family and their friends had a simple lunch after the Mass, according to Kris.

“It's such a miracle na she’s okay…  it hasn’t been easy for her but she also said kanina na she hasn’t suffered as much as others who go through cancer have. Siguro [because of] the many millions of people who continue to pray for her,” Kris said.
