Metro Manila, parts of Luzon hit by rotating brownouts
MANILA, Philippines - Residents in several areas of Metro Manila and parts of Luzon will experience rotating brownouts until 9 p.m. Monday due to the outage of a generation plant supplying power to Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).
Meralco started to implement manual load dropping at 1:38 p.m. because of insufficient power supply brought about by the outage of Sual plant unit 1 at 12:41 p.m.
Meralco said there was feedwater pump trouble at the plant, which has a generation capacity of 540 megawatts.
Meralco said that as of noon, Luzon grid required 4,328 megawatts but power supply only reached 4,028 megawatts due to the plant outage.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philipppines has put the whole Luzon grid on "red alert" due to the power deficiency.
Meralco said that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates. The company added that it will render electric service to customers inconvenienced by the lack of power supply.
A DRY RUN?
I hope and pray that this is not a dry-run of what the Administration will do in May 10, 2010 election.
We have a lot of questions and we can only speculate in their are no answers. Just like what is happening in the Villar ethics case before the Senate. We are trying to see the truth in darkness because the lights are switch-off by Villar.
As Expected
This power plant that operates on bunker fuel and diesel can resolve power outages during peak hours.
As expected, magkakaroon ng power interruptions.
