Satur to Villar: Why not face the Senate?
MANILA, Philippines - Nacionalista Party (NP) senatorial candidate Satur Ocampo of party-list Bayan Muna is urging the NP standard-bearer Senator Manuel Villar to face his colleagues in the Senate and defend himself from charges that he acted unethically in connection with the C-5 road extension project.
"Ang advice namin, through House minority leader (San Juan) Rep. Ronaldo Zamora, ay sabihin sa kanya, 'Face it up to the Senate.' Wag nya iwasan ang issue. Wag sya magpapaliwanag sa media, kundi sa Senate. Ang nakuha kong feedback kay congressman Zamora, sabi nya, "Ipinaabot ko. Pero I'm not the presidential candidate," Ocampo told House reporters on Monday when sought to comment on the raging controversy.
As of posting time, the Senate was considering Committee Report 780 recommending Villar's censure for improper and unethical conduct in the C-5 road extension project. It also urges him to return P6.22 billion to the national treasury.
"We take consideration of the fact that the Senate is being divided by the issue. This internal issue deflects the attention from the last session days, and it is further complicated by accusations that he is masterminding moves to oust Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile. It has become a personal battle between the two," Ocampo said.
"As a matter of inter-parliamentary courtesy, I would refrain from commenting, particularly because we are endorsing Senator Villar. But at the same time, we are urging him kung ang position nya ay wala syang na-violate, ang dapat pag ganoon, harapin nya," Ocampo said.
"If you want to become president, you have to act responsibly and show leadership," Ocampo said.
Villar has refused to appear before the Senate Committee of the Whole, describing it as a kangaroo court.
Meanwhile, Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros, a senatorial candidate of the Liberal Party, assailed Villar and called him "un-presidentiable (sic)."
"It is not just unbecoming of a Senator, a former Senate President at that, but it is also very much unpresidentiable," Hontiveros said.
"Now is the moment to prove that you have integrity and that you can stand up for your own name. Paano nya masasabi na sya ay may paninindigan kung di nya kayang tumayo para sa kanyang sariling pangalan," she added.

the fact is natatakot kumarap sa senado si villar kasi mahuhubaran sya at makikita ang pet-log nya.

If Hon. Sen. Manny Villar feels innocent of this C-5 insertions, why he is afraid to face his accusers fellow-senators? Hiding and hosting tv presson to promoting himself by bombarding Tv ads even 24/4 frequently will not help him clean. He is alienating himself from intelligent voters.
The more he is making excuses to attaend senate session and instead planning to oust the senate leadership he is losing grip of the coin. He should face the music or withdraw from the race because he can hardly wooing the Filipino voters to vote for him this coming elections. Voters would think twice and considered him maybe more than dangerous if he become president?>>....
