Female lawmaker wants Pimentel apology over 'sex joke'
MANILA, Philippines - A lady senatorial candidate on Tuesday urged Sen. Aquilino "Nene" Pimentel Jr. to apologize to women for making an off-color joke during floor debates over the ethics case against Sen. Manny Villar.
"As a woman I am asking Sen. Pimentel to apologize over his 'insertion' joke. It was absolutely uncalled for, irrelevant," Akbayan Rep. Riza Hontiveros said in a statement.
The congresswoman, who is running for senator under Sen. Mar Roxas's Liberal Party, said that Pimentel should not have cracked the sex joke at all since he has a reputation as a well-respected freedom fighter. She added that Pimentel's latest remark may also further erode the reputation of his presidential candidate, Sen. Manuel Villar.
Pimentel cracked the joke during a debate on the Senate Committee of the Whole report on Villar's alleged unethical conduct for making insertions, or amendments in the national budget. The insertions allegedly benefited Villar's real estate business.
During the debate, Roxas said they were not ganging up on Villar, who was a no-show at the plenary session. He also made it clear that he never made any insertion for a project that would benefit him financially.
"I say no. I had no insertion on any matter. In fact, I had no insertion, period. Because we're in the minority! Let alone an insertion for a road to pass through any such property," he said.
Pimentel then retorted: "Well, well, I'm sure that after your marriage, you had some insertions...But that may be different." The remark prompted laughter from the people seated in the gallery.
This angered Roxas, who had recently married gotten married to ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez. "I demand that that be removed from the record! That is an affront to my wife." With a report from RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News

n pimentel's insertion
n pimentel's comment on insertion is an indirect attack to m roxas personhood and at the same token a direct assault not only to k, wife to m roxas, but to all the women at large. this however, made him instantly a certified icon; a still-living symbol of the already rotten philippine politics since the time of marcos. he is a shame to the late president cory aquino and to inday nita daluz of cebu (no info about her current status whether still living or no more) his companera during the marcos regime. not to mention to the people of cagayan de oro and his hometown (during his young age) in claveria, misamis oriental as he is already a shame when he takes the pride of denying by declaring that he is not from these places the moment he stepped the pillars of the senate house as one of its senator. you must agree that it is time now for him to retire. it is respectable and admirable of him if he makes a public outcry of forgiveness on his irresponsible comments on insertion but the icon of being a symbol of a rotten politics in the philippines will remain and always will be in the minds of the filipino people!

Conduct unbecoming of a Public Servant
Such comment by Mr. Pimentel is really unwanted and unwelcome. Conduct unbecoming of a public servant!!! No wonder the senate is starting to be a big joke - with senators like you. Mr. Pimentel should start treating women with respect. He should apologize not only to Mrs. Korina Sanchez-Roxas but to the people.

What a shame to Mr. Pimentel, you're a "well respected Senator" and should lead an example. But it seems thats not the order of business nowadays...as long as you have the money, power and influence. Patawarin nyo na si tandang Pimentel, ulyanin na kasi sya kaya hindi na nya alam ang sinasabi nya. I thought people who is getting older will become more wiser and increase in wisdom. But on the contrary, they become worst (like of ofcourse joke arroyo "pag bad ka lagot ka").
You cannot blame Nene (what kind of name is that for very old and idiotic man)for protecting his master since one of his son (cant remember the first name except that his surname happened to be pimentel also) is a candidate under Money Villar (under C5 at Taga banner).
Money Villar has a lot of things to explain but since he cannot depend his guilt, he continually refuse to attend the plenary. You may question the motive of Enrile since he himself is a certified and true trapo, but the documentary evidence against money are glaring and damning.
Refusal to answer the charges against you are of the sign of guilt. But even without the report, we knew what Manny stands for. He is the real candidate of "I am Sorry" GMA not Gibo. Look how dangerous Manny is. He will even deal with the devil just to get to the presidency.
Be afraid of Manny Villar. Voters, you should be much wiser to choose your president.
