Admits giving Rabusa P10K, but says 'twas not bribe

MANILA, Philippines - Instead of attending the hearing at the House of Representatives, former Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes opted to air his side at a press conference with the media where he finally broke his silence and denied allegations made against him by former Army Col. George Rabusa.

During the press conference, Reyes said he never signed any document authorizing Rabusa to disburse or distribute money.

"We deny having received money from him. I never directed him to disburse or distribute money. Maybe he is doing that to others," he told reporters.

Reyes also admitted being hurt by allegations made against him and his family. He said his family should not be dragged into the controversy as a result of Rabusa's statements.

His lawyer, Atty. Bonifacio Alentajan, said Rabusa's allegation against Reyes is a desperate attempt to escape several  cases filed against him.

He added Rabusa's allegations are unfounded since, based on his own admission in media interviews, he burned all documents related to money disbursements so as not to leave a paper trail.

Reyes' camp also plans to file a libel case against Rabusa for his recent statements.

The former defense chief defended his absence in today's (Feb. 1) hearing, saying he only got his invitation late yesterday afternoon and that it was unfortunate that he already had prior commitments. This does not mean that he intends to snub future hearings as he is more than willing to cooperate with lawmakers.

Meantime, Reyes admitted to giving Rabusa P10,000 but it was not a bribe.

I had read an article saying

I had read an article saying that the probe should focus on Reyes and not to Garcia. Kitang kita naman suring the blue ribbon hearing na guilty si Garcia the way he answers or disregards the questions given to him.

Reyes plunderer appealing not to drag his family into his mess

Mr Reyes, I don't want to call you General as you do not deserve it, why appeal not to involve your family into your self-inflicted mess when you yourself drag the whole innocent countrymen into your plundering spree. Should we care enough about your own family?

the result of it

that is what we called "life"

Karma

Let's support our Government. Our President may not be perfect, but he has the best intentions. Most importantly, He's not corrupt.
