Tatad: Corona impeach trial is no 'Budoy'
MANILA, Philippines - Former senator Francisco "Kit" Tatad believes there is a world of difference between the impeachment trials of former president Joseph Estrada and Chief Justice Renato Corona.
For one thing, he said the Estrada trial never had to worry about the ratings.
"The interest in the Estrada impeachment trial was unflagging. Sustained. Dito nakikita mo, gumuguho na, nawawala na. The galleries are now empty. I wonder how much longer prime TV could carry it without losing its audience. Siyempre, hindi mo pwede itapat sa Budoy ito," he said, referring to a popular TV show on ABS-CBN.
Tatad also said that unlike in the Estrada impeachment trial, the prosecution and defense panels in the Corona trial are "not evenly matched."
"In the Estrada impeachment trial, the question of galing and competence of the prosecution never arose. Joker Arroyo was head of the prosecution, ang galing-galing niya. Congressman Raul Daza on the other side. [Estelito] Mendoza. It was evenly matched," he said.
On the other hand, he said many are criticizing the prosecutors in the Corona trial for not being as experienced as the defense panel.
"Kaya sinasabi dapat si Mercy Gutierrez hindi nagresign. Kung ganito lang kagaling ang prosecution baka nandiyan pa siya," he said.
Tatad said the Corona impeachment trial has shown to the public the need for maturity and wisdom in the Senate.
He noted many are praising Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and defense lawyer Serafin Cuevas in the trial. Enrile is 87 while Cuevas is 83.
"87- and 83-year-olds are the rock stars here. That is a service to our people. Natututo ang ating bayan na hindi lang popularity nakikita sa media, bata, maganda itsura...yan ang naganap sa Senado," he said.

Prosecutions Failure
Tatad is right this trial is a battle knowledge and experience, unlike the Estrada trial you can see how prepared the prosecution was. At the beginning it seems that Estrada is invincible but prosecution managed to convince the people to believed them and make the battle even, While on CJ’s case at first it looks like prosecution is going for an early knock out, they have a very strong case right choice of witnesses but due to lack of knowledge and experience and preparation, they were eaten alive by the defence.
I do believe that CJ is guilty but again there is a process to proved it, and clearly the prosecutions is failing. I’m still hoping for a conviction but losing my trust the prosecution can deliver.

Don't worry, though we are not present in the Senate, we assured that we are all watching thoroughly to see the outcome.
Talaga ang galing galing ba ni Joker? So far, I can't see it, he even compared Clinton's case vs. Corona's case, an apple and orange. Clinton's case was more of personal infidelity and not money matters at all. Only fools who can't think will believe on that kind of analogy.
Should Kit run as Senator on next election, I assured that he will not get my vote.
The way I see it, after Art.2
The way I see it, after Art.2 or Art.3, the prosecutors will waive the other articles, they can no longer sustain it. The longer the trial goes on, the more their incompetence becomes obvious. Everyday is an agony for them. They now have become a laughing stock. Tapos na ang boxing, the prosecutors will throw in the towel.
