MANILA - Senator Nancy Binay defended her sister, Makati Rep. Abigail Binay-Campos, who won a condominium unit in a raffle draw with an estimated value of P5 million.

The raffle was held by the Power Plant Mall last February 2 for a unit in The Grove, a development by Rockwell Land Corporation in Pasig City.

Binay said there is no restriction on public officials from joining raffles, as long as these are legitimate.

The senator even revealed that her father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, is a regular lotto bettor.

"Naisip ko nga yung papa ko, mahilig bumili ng lotto ticket yun eh. Masama ba yon?" Binay asked.

The senator said that her sister seems to have a lucky streak, winning a TV set in another raffle in the past.

She said the Makati representative is also diligent in filling out raffle forms, increasing her odds of winning.

"The raffle was done publicly and with a DTI representative, if I'm not mistaken. So I don't think there's anything wrong. Pati ba naman raffle, ginagawan ng issue," Binay said.
