Brillantes blasts Comelec critics on Twitter
MANILA - Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes took to his Twitter account on Tuesday to further lash out at critics of the automated election system following glitches at the mock elections and the printing of ballots.
Brillantes believes the criticism come from defeated politicians.
"It is unfortunate that we are again bombarded by sorry tales of losing candidates which have long been debunked and proven false," he said.
Brillantes maintained that concerns have been fixed. "The recycled criticisms of the PCOS Precinct Count Optical Scan machines] have been explained and addressed way back in 2011 when we were preparing for the ARMM [Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao] elections."
The Comelec chief also insisted in the legality of the purchase of the PCOS machines, which was cleared by the Supreme Court. "Also, the compliance of the PCOS machines with RA 9369 is a settled issue, the SC affirmed it not only once, but TWICE."
Brillantes also expressed dismay at the media coverage the Comelec's critics are getting. "It is unfortunate that they are being given unnecessary exposure to propagate their falsehoods, sow mistrust and continue to deceive the public."
