MANILA, Philippines - House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales warned Tuesday that there is an ongoing demolition job against the House prosecution team in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Gonzales said the public should not be distracted by the black propaganda because the issue is about the sins of Justice Corona. 

For his part, Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas said there is no truth that his house cost P50 million. He said it is only worth P14.5 million and will be declared in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth.

The Palace, meanwhile, described as a “diversion” the issues raised against Tupas and Gonzales for allegedly building expensive “mansions” and not declaring these in their SALNs.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Tupas has already addressed the issue by saying he bought the house last year and will declare it this year.

She said Gonzales declared his house in his SALN and that the value mentioned in a report was bloated. With Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
