MANILA - The National Printing Office (NPO) printed its 1 millionth official ballot for the mid-term election, only to stop afterwards.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes told media today that ballot printing hit the million mark but had to stop. He is still having the stoppage checked.

Brillantes said most of the ballots printed so far have passed testing with the precinct optical scan (PCOS) machines.

He said that so far, the poll body has encountered no problems in the preparations for the polls.

Comelec is awaiting the results of the evaluation of the technical evaluation committee to see if there is a need for another mock election and field test. Glitches marred the mock elections Saturday.

Brillantes said that if the TEC says that the tests are okay, then there will be no further tests.

He said Comelec's enhancements to the system are not the cause of the glitches since these were already subjected to source code review in 2011.
