Ruby Tuason evidence just a 'lay-up,' Jinggoy says
MANILA - Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Friday downplayed the testimony of Ruby Tuason, the former social secretary of ex-President Joseph Estrada, who has directly linked him to the pork barrel scam involving businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles.
"She was just corroborating what the other whistleblowers said that she was our agent, that she was collecting money from [Janet] Napoles and giving it to us," Estrada said on Friday.
"Baka lay-up lang yan (evidence), iba yung slam dunk, iba yung lay-up. Ang slam dunk sigurado e. Ang lay-up pwede pa magmintis," he said.
"Dapat meron silang clear-cut evidence to link me, or to link any other legislators in court. E wala silang ebidensya talaga e, puro salita," he said.
Estrada reiterated that he never authorized Tuason to represent him in any transactions with regard to his PDAF allocations.
"I have never authorized anybody. Maybe she misrepresented herself, siguro sinabi nya kay Napoles, sinabi nya kay Benhur Luy, o para kay Enrile to, para kay Estrada to. Wala po akong kinalaman dun," Estrada pointed out.
Estrada also said he is totally unfazed by the allegations against him.
"Kahit ano sabihin nya, wala naman talaga e. As early as September we have been tried by publicity. Sabi nga ng tatay ko parang guilty na kami, para kinu-crucify na kami ng taong bayan. Dapat alam natin mga facts, mga detalye at lalong-lalo na the evidence presented before the Ombudsmnan," he added.
"Nagdadasal tayo na maging patas. I'm still praying na maging patas ang paghahandle ni Ombudswoman Conchita Morales-Carpio sa mga kaso ng senador," he noted.
Estrada said that if the case is elevated to the Sandiganbayan, he will face the charges squarely.
"Sana ay himayin o basahin man lang ang aking reply sa complaint nila laban sa akin," he said.
