MANILA, Philippines - House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez on Wednesday said he plans to file a resolution calling for an investigation on how bank records of Chief Justice Renato Corona were leaked to the House of Representatives impeachment prosecutors.

Suarez warned there might be capital flight wherein foreign investors might be scared because of the leak of bank records of the Chief Justice.

The lawmaker said the planned investigation will call employees of Bank of Philippine Islands and Philippine Savings Bank who might have leaked the information.  He warned that foreign investors might be scared to invest if it is found out that anyone can just leak bank accounts without accountability or punishment.

He said that the banks involved should be sanctioned if it is true they were the source of the leak.

Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay said Rep. Reynaldo Umali should authenticate the bank documents first before presenting it to the public. She said Umali should come clean and tell the public who is his source.

She also said that house prosecutors cannot be considered evidence if it is illegally acquired.

baka mali ho si suarez at hindi magtakbuhan yong mga foreign investors. baka they're come here in droves on finding out that corruption is being wiped out in our country. that they dont need to spend as much as $20 thousand dollars in wining and dining just to win contracts.

whistle blower

maybe suarez does not know we have whistle blowers and they're protected by law. I think, suarez is better off finding out who tried' to put the little girl to sleep', he might have more success.

Take me to dinner for $20K

Suarez should indeed be happy that there are still good people in our bank industry

"Suarez warned there might be

"Suarez warned there might be capital flight wherein foreign investors might be scared because of the leak of bank records of the Chief Justice."

======
Majority of foreign investors will never be scared because the government can't just take their money away, especially if their money are coming from legitimate sources.

Most probably, Suarez is referring to foreign investors who are involved in illegal activities such as shabu making and other illegal businesses, but who needs them in the Philippines? Maybe only the corrupt public officials who are also receiving a lot of money for some sort of payola for protecting these kinds of foreign investors? In this case Suarez is right, the foreign investors which are engaged in illegal businesses might be scared (and of course their corrupt public officials as protectors too).

Suarez should say rather that corrupt public officials are so scared now (bato-bato sa langit alam mo na kung sino ang tatamaan, syempre yung gusto magpatigil o gustong mag-imbistiga kuno to discourage the future whistleblowers)! They are hiding with the defective law (or should we say defective interpretation?) and that law must be protected or lest to say, the corrupts must be protected.

I wonder who among the people are enjoying in the corruption legacy or I should not wonder because the answer is clear for those making tons of money out from it

pa pogi time!!

tama ka danny.panahon ng mag ingay pra pampapogi.

malapit na ang eleksyon.

kailangan 100steps ahead.

kawawa nanaman ang ordinayong pilipino.

kangaroo court

the bank documents acquired by tupas jr. is evidently illegal. bank records of the CJ can only be released (dollar account) with the permission of the depositor (in this case corona). such bank documents submitted by the prostituted allies of pnoy to the impeachment court are inadmissible since these documents are acquired illegally. perhaps these documents were acquired with the help of the boy from the pasig river.

on the issue of the impeachment court issuing subpoena to the concerned banks is a violation of bank secrecy law. the senate shouldn't give in to the ploy of the boy from the stinky pasig river. it was he and his minions doing things fair and foul to force a decision fovorable to them.

the bank documents instrumental for the issuance of subpoena are acquired illegally. second, to divulge information from an individuals account (dollar account) )without the permission from the depositor is a clear violation of the bank secrecy law. third, the issue of disclosing corona's bank accounts clearly diverts the issue to article 2.4 (accusation of ill-gotten wealth). the impeachment court made a ruling not to tackle paragraph 2.4 of article 2. if they (senate) insist on discussing the issue of corona's bank account, they will be violating their own ruling.

at this stage, i can see the invisible hands of malacanan making wonders. the senate as an impeachment body may violate the constitutional right of the accuse. it is high time that the defense seek the help of SC in this matter.

yes, the senate has a right to hear this impeachment case. but they cannot go beyond what the law prohibits. once the constitutional rights of any private individual or government official is being violated, the SC can exercise its power of judicial review. if in case, the SC finds out that the senate committed a grave abuse of discretion, the SC can stop the entire proceeding making this whole political exercise useless.
