NBI: Lacson "wanted" posters don't violate any laws

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday said that the "Wanted" posters put up by the group Volunteers against Crime and Corruption (VACC) do not violate any laws.

The VACC earlier said that the posters are a way to dare Lacson to surrender.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for Lacson in connection with the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.

In an ambush interview, Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno appealed to Lacson to face the procedures, now that the warrant for the latter's arrest is already out.

"That's his decision" was Puno's reply on his thoughts on Lacson's statements that he will only surface when the Arroyo administration is no longer in power.

"Again, let me go back to what I said, that he must consider the procedures, especially that he's being looked at as an example" said Puno.

However, Alex Poblador, one of Lacson's lawyer, said that the intent of the posters is not just to persecute but also to "humiliate and embarrass" his client.

Another Lacson counsel, Alex Avisado, said only the government, through the police, should be allowed to put up such posters.

Despite this, Poblador said that he is not prepared to take any legal action against the VACC. Avisado said "it's a free country."

Lacson's counsels said they will continue to monitor the posting of the posters.

'Stop political alibis'

Meanwhile, Carina Dacer, daughter of slain PR man Salvador Dacer, appealed to Lacson that he should stop using politics as an alibi.

In a statement, Dacer said that they are not surprised that Lacson is "hiding," but they are questioning how he was able to use the Senate to refute the accusations and was able to leave the country.

"Please stop hiding behind the now tiring reason that the case against you is a politically motivated persecution or that the administration has a plot to harass and harm you. This case is not about you. This case is about the lives of two people that were taken. This case is about all the lives destroyed by the murder of my father and Emmanuel. This case is not about you or your politics," the statement said.

"Senator Lacson, you have denied involvement in the brutal murder of our father and Emmanuel numerous times. Prove it. Please stop all the talk," Dacer's statement added.

She also had words for former President Joseph Estrada.

"Former President Erap, please stop telling the world how close our families are because as you very well know, our families are not close," Dacer said in the statement. With a report from Maan Macapagal and Jorge Cariño, ABS-CBN News

Wanted: Ping Lacson Posters

This message is for Sen. Lacson. You are a public figure. You've been looked up to by almost everybody who has followed your career. Please don't let these people down by going into hiding. It's not going to help you any and will further complicate the situation that you are in. Face the situation like a true soldier. Only then will you be able to clear your name if you are innocent or face the consequences if otherwise. I hope you can read this. Thank you.

A taste of his own medicine

"Alex Poblador, one of Lacson's lawyer, said that the intent of the posters is not just to persecute but also to "humiliate and embarrass" his client."

Well, that's how Mr. Lacson conducts himself in the senate when he was still a senator. He likes to humiliate and embarrass people with his expose's and ways of questioning in senate inquiries. Coward bastard! Buti nga sa yo!
