MANILA - The chairman of the Commission on Elections on Thursday said party-list groups have more posters in prohibited areas than national candidates.
Asked by media about local officials joining senatorial candidates during their campaigns, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said: "We expect naman tuloy pa rin abuso before the campaign period."
"Umpisa na campaign period sa national. Di masyado sa senatorial, we're more concerned with party-list groups. Parang di naintidihan campaign period na di pwede maglagay sa lahat ng lugar."
Brillantes warned candidates that the poll body will start removing posters and will cancel the party-list accreditation of erring groups.
"Yung mga andiyan sa listahan, andiyan na, dapat di nila abusuhin. Tuloy nila magkakacancel pa kami para kumonti party-list. Pag kinancel di bilangin boto."
Brillantes clarified though that even if there will be fewer party-list groups, the size of the ballot will stay the same. He said the 2013 ballot has the same size as the 2010 ballot.
