PNoy: Elected officials should reflect people's will
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino addressed criticisms that he is immature and showing signs of becoming a dictator. He said elected officials should reflect the people’s will.
This was the continuation of Aquino’s reply to a student who asked how would his anti-corruption drive be affected if Chief Justice Renato Corona is acquitted by the impeachment court. He said it would be “extremely difficult if not impossible” to run after corrupt officials if Corona is acquitted.
"So dito ho talagang away nating lahat ito. Ngayon, ‘yung pinaka-check and balance sa atin pong mga politiko eleksyon. Eleksyon next year. …So paalala po natin: Saan nagmula kapangyarihan niyo?
But presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the President is not pressuring the Senate.
“This is not about pressuring the Senate. This is about his views, what he believes in and he also mentioned that the truth will set you free,” Lacierda said.
Oh C'mon! Wake up!
Oh C'mon! Wake up! We all know how politics is done in this country! - Sen. Mirriam Santiago.
If he could just shut up and let the whole process takes its course, it would have been a lot more credible!
If you had just let go of Hacienda Luisita in all possible way before you entered this battle, you might have earned a lot more supporters in this particular cause.
You do not even have to reach this point where you practically are pressuring the senate or begging for people's attention to convict Corona notwithstanding the fact that trial isn't over, and the other side hasn't been heard yet.
