SC extends TRO vs Meralco rate hike
MANILA - The Supreme Court has extended for 60 more days the temporary restraining order against the P4.15 per kilowatt-hour increase by the Manila Electric Co.
The TRO will last until April 22, 2014.
Petitioners earlier said the rate hike will add billions to production cost of manufacturers, which would push up the prices of goods and services.
The SC also granted a 60-day TRO enjoining Masinloc Power Powers Company Limited care of AES Philippines, San Miguel Energy Corporation, South Premiere Power Corporation, First Gas Power Corporation and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines from demanding and collecting the deferred amounts representing the affected costs.
