Corona defense team denies some members resigning
MANILA, Philippines - There is no truth to text messages that some members of Chief Justice Renato Corona's defense team are resigning, Corona's lawyers said on Monday.
Atty. Tranquil Salvador III said the defense team remains strong and will continue to work to defend Corona's rights. He denied text messages that lawyers from the Romulo Mabanta law firm "will withdraw from the defense team after CJ Corona acted in bad faith to disclose his total bank accounts."
Three of the 12 Corona defense team members are from the Romulo Mabanta law firm. They are Salvador, Eduardo de los Angeles and Jack Jimenez.
Salvador said their law firm remains apolitical and that it is the personal decision of the 3 lawyers to join the Corona defense team.
Meanwhile, Salvador said the Corona defense team will present the Chief Justice's bank accounts at the right time and in the right way. This is after the Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) challenged all government officials to disclose their bank accounts amid the ongoing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona.
Corona's lawyers urged the public to wait under the defense's turn to present their own evidence and witnesses in the trial. Report from Jing Castañeda, ABS-CBN News

Corona's lawyers said they
Corona's lawyers said they will present their own evidence and witnesses in the trial.
......Well, how can CJ Corona's lawyers refute the huge bank deposits of Corona ? Will his lawyers say that it is not his money ? The bank accounts are in his name, and, as any self-respecting lawyer knows, possession is 90% of the Law. If his lawyers say that it is somebody else's money then they would have to convince that "somebody" to swear in Court. Of course, that "somebody" will have to risk being investigated by the BIR and prove if he has the means to earn that money and if he paid the right taxes. CJ Corona has no place to run...it is like being squeezed between a rock and a hard place...and his lawyers know it.
