Marcos: PH should have been a Singapore now

MANILA (UPDATED) - The Philippines would not be experiencing the problems it has today if his father was not ousted from power by the first EDSA People Power Revolution, whose 25th anniversary the country is celebrating this week, Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Tuesday.

Asked what the country's situation would be if the late former President Ferdinand Marcos remained in the presidency, the senator replied, "Eh siguro Singapore na tayo ngayon."

Singapore is one of Asia's Tiger economies, where the quality of life is considered among the best in the world.

Marcos said his father had many plans to improve the country, which did not push through because of EDSA 1.

The elder Marcos was ousted after the four-day uprising, which catapulted to power the late former President Corazon Aquino, the mother of the incumbent President.

Marcos believes the promises of 1986 have yet to be realized.

He said one only has to look at objective indicators such as the country's economy, the quality of life of the people, and the Philippines' standing in the international community to judge whether EDSA 1 changed things for the better.

"Kung tutuusin natin, kung iisipin natin ang mga pangyayari noong 1986 at kung nasaan na ngayon ang kalagayan ng ating ekonomiya, ng ating mga kababayan, maliwanag na marami pa rin tayong pagkukulang sa pamahalaan at maliwanag na marami pa tayong kailangang gawin upang maabot ang ating mga pangarap," he said.

Marcos, who was elected to the Senate in the 2010 elections, said the people already know the truth about his father's administration.

"Na napakarami ang kanyang nagawa, napakarami ang kanyang tinulong, at napakalaki ng progreso ng bansa noong panahon na iyon," he said.

Marcos, however, acknowledged the importance of EDSA 1 as a "touching point in our history." He said the lessons of 1986 must be used to see how the welfare of Filipinos can be improved.

"Let us use it as a basis to see what we can do and look to the future, and not rest on laurels that we are celebrating every time we have the EDSA celebration," Marcos said.

Parang may patama si Pnoy kay Bongbong by saying PH could have been
like Libya now, not Singapore. If I remember right, Bongbong's mother,
Imelda, was a favorite and frequent guest of Libya's Gadafi when Marcos was
in power. Maybe the Pnoy knows something more about that relationship
than most filipinos do. Pilyo talaga to si Pnoy.

PH should have been... is a dream

Should Ph have been like Japan had not America won in World War 2?...

Should PH have been a communist country had Marcos not declared martial law?...

Should PH have been a Moslem country had Spain not colonized it?...

Should the PH have been free of corruption had we not elected a different presidents in the past?...

YES

PH should have been more progressive now, if not from your DICTATOR father that was once brilliant. When power becomes the basis for your existence....greediness and discontentment will be the ultimate goal.
On the other note, we need to stop being emotional on who we vote. Isipin naman natin kung sino and makabubuti para sa atin and iboto.

PHILIPPINES

Will always be a poor and corrupt country that's the fact/reality. Wala talagang pag-asa at pagbabago magpakailan pa man. Kahit sino pang lider na mamuno mga politiko sa Pilipinas parehong lang silang lahat. Kawawa talaga ang Pilipinas

To you all remnants of Macos dictatorship

Naiwan pa kayong balak magpatuloy maghasik nang lagim. Sa halip magnilay, magsisi at ibalik nyo ng lahat nang nakaw para sa ika-uunlad pa ng bayan.

annaleah80 baka ikaw tinutokoy mo,

Hidden Wealth From Where?

Bong,

You have forgotten that through your corrupt father, the country started owing in billions of dollars. Why? Because it will cost for every investors million if not billons of dollars to get the signature of your father just to invest in the Philippines. There was a saying there's always a project from the Marcoses because that's where the money is.

That explains why you have hidden wealth everywhere in the world.

Now you claimed to have seen the plans how to build the Philippines. Can you tell also us where the rest of your father's hidden wealth is?

Hidden?

how do you you know that it,s hidden when it's hidden? ;)
