House minority defends Pagcor chief
MANILA, Philippines - House Minority leader Danilo Suarez sees nothing wrong with the free $6,000-a-night suite accommodation given to Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) Chairman Cristino Naguiat Jr. in Macau.
He said that since billionaire casino magnate Kazuo Okada was the one who invited Naguiat to look at his casinos in Macau, it was only natural that he gave the PAGCOR chairman special treatment and show the best of his casino.
This allows Naguiat to compare industry standards of the villas with the planned Pagcor City in the Philippines.
House Games and Amusement Committee chair Rep. Amado Bagatsing said the report is part of a black propaganda being waged by the Wynn group against the company of Okada, who was one of 4 businessmen given a casino franchise in the Philippines.
Bagatsing said Steve Wynn, owner of the Wynn Resorts, does not want Okada to put up an international standard casino in the Philippines that would compete against his Macau operations.
