MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang would prefer Chief Justice Renato Corona to take the witness stand and personally answer the charges against him.
Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said it would only be the Chief Justice who can detail how his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth (SALN) was prepared.
“It would be preferable for him to shed light on how he prepared the SALN, why the SALN was filled up in that manner and the only person, we believe, who can really testify on the substance of the SALN would be the Chief Justice,” Lacierda said.
“He also said in due time lalabas siya at ipapaliwanag ang kanyang SALN so siguro it’s time,” he added. “As far as we are concerned, it would be best for the country to see Chief Justice Corona testify.”
