Napoles seeks surgery, confinement at St. Luke's
MANILA (UPDATE) - Alleged pork scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles is asking a local court that she be allowed to undergo surgery and be confined at St. Luke's Medical Center at Bonifacio Global City.
This is after the businesswoman was diagnosed with a cyst beside her uterus after a medical examination at the Camp Crame General Hospital on February 26.
In a motion filed before the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150, the camp of Napoles quoted the findings of Dr. Michelle Daguno of the Camp Crame Hospital recommending surgery for the removal of the cyst in Napoles' abdomen.
It also asked the court that Napoles be allowed to be confined in the hospital.
Napoles, a central figure in the P10 billion pork barrel scam, is facing plunder charges before the Office of the Ombudsman.
She is detained at the Special Action Forces (SAF) facility in Fort Sto. Domingo for a separate charge of serious illegal detention filed by her former aide, pork barrel scam whistle-blower Benhur Luy.
