MANILA - Vice President Jejomar Binay lauded the arrest of businessman Delfin Lee. Binay, who is the concurrent chairman of the Pag-IBIG Board, believes there is enough evidence to prosecute lee.

"The President talagang isinama yan, may reward yan ng P2 million.

Andaming ebidensiya dito. Abut-abot yung kaso nun, kaya nga bilyong piso," he added.

Lee was arrested by the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Task Force Tugis operatives in the lobby of the Hyatt Hotel in Manila Thursday night by virtue of a warrant issued by Branch 42 Regional Trial Court (RTC) in the City of San Fernando.

Lee's arrest is in connection with the over P6 billion in Pag-IBIG loans that went to "ghost borrowers" for a Globe Asiatique housing project in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

The businessman's camp on Friday cried foul over his arrest, saying that a Court of Appeals (CA) decision had already cleared Lee of syndicated estafa charges and ordered the police to stop his arrest, reversing the Pampanga court's earlier decision.

Binay, however, said the standing order is not that of the CA. He said the Supreme Court has the final say on the validity of Lee's warrant of arrest.
