PNoy gets first honorary degree
JAKARTA - President Benigno Aquino III was conferred an honorary doctorate of law by the faculty of the Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) in Indonesia.
Aquino was recognized for his advocacies on human rights, justice, and good governance.
The President thanked the university for giving him his first honorary degree.
In jest, the President, who is not a lawyer, said now that he has a doctorate in law, those who do not have such a degree do not have a right to lecture him on law.
“I thank you therefore for conferring this degree upon me. For the next time, anybody attempts to lecture me on the law, I will tell them ‘Unless you have a doctorate, please do not presume to teach me,’” Aquino said in his public lecture after receiving the honorary doctorate. -- report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
