Roxas airs side on Loren's 'withdrawal' claim
MANILA, Philippines - Liberal Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate Mar Roxas has given his side on the recent disclosure made by Sen. Loren Legarda that he allegedly asked her to withdraw from the vice-presidential race.
Roxas said his conversation with Legarda was taken out of context. He said he only tried to convince Legarda to support their tandem because he never thought that she would team up with Villar.
He recalled that Legarda once called Villar corrupt and bereft of good leadership qualities.
"Eh 'yung sinabi niyang corrupt si Villar. Iyong sinabi niyang walang liderato si Villar (She once said Villar is corrupt and has no capability to lead)," Roxas said, adding that Legarda even gathered senators and solicited their support for a Senate coup against Villar.
"Hindi ako makapaniwala na seryoso siyang magbi-Villar siya. Kaya natanong ko kung puwede niyang isipin na suportahan niya ang tambalang Noynoy at Mar (I did not believe that he will go for [Sen. Manny] Villar. That's why I asked her if she could think of supporting the Noynoy and Mar tandem)," Roxas told reporters in a press conference during an LP sortie in Surigao City on Thursday.
Roxas was reacting to Legarda's revelation during a radio interview that he offered her something in exchange for her withdrawal and support for the LP tandem.
Legarda, the running mate of Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Sen. Manuel Villar Jr., said the conversation took place at the session hall before Congress adjourned last month.
"Baka may pamamaraan na huwag ka nang tumakbo at kung ano ang kailangan mo ay kami ang bahala, basta suportahan mo kami ng aking running mate (If there is a way, maybe you could abort your plan to run and we can give you what you need just support me and my running mate)," Legarda said, quoting Roxas.
Roxas has maintained a wide margin over Legarda in vice-presidential surveys. The latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed Roxas garnering 45% over Legarda's 28%.

Wind-Water (Feng Shui) Extinguishes the Fire & Corrodes Metal
In American politics, the elements eliminate each other and form a generalized "male" group called "Democrats" (Wood & Fire) and a generalized "female" group called "Republicans" (Water, Earth & Metal).
The Democrats are on the Left and the Republicans are on the Right. Philippine politics, however is "female," so the elemental positions are often dynamic or confused. Sometimes, they don't know where they are.
However, if we know their elements, we can know their position even if they say they are elsewhere. Noynoy (Air) and his VP candidate Mar Roxas (Fire) from the Liberal Party are "Democrats," mimicking the various degrees of "masculinity." Villar (Metal) and his VP candidate Loren Legarda (Water) from the Nacionalista Party are "Republicans," the "female" side of the country.
Feng Shui holds that position and balance are keys to prosperity. Feng-Shui literally means Wind-Water, favoring the balance of "male" and "female" to produce a normal environment. Therefore, the optimal choice for President and VP would be Noynoy and Loren.
However, because of the forces of nature, what is optimal is not often chosen due to ignorance. A straight Democrat win (Noynoy-Mar) would produce a "male-gay" government. A Manny-Mar win would create "bi-gay" leadership--a very filthy combination.
Furthermore, the divided Right may opt to combine forces when the less-voted elements choose to surrender their votes to a more popular element. But Earth on the Right may move to the Left, just as Blacks join American Democrats.
In any case, we usually can't expect the best to happen since nature is very imperfect. We just have to cope with nature, whatever it finally decides.
