Princess Jacel: Our troops won't surrender
MANILA - The daughter of the sultan of Sulu hopes the recently held meeting between her uncle, Sultan Bantilan Esmail Kiram and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas would lead to a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Sabah.
While she has no exact details yet about what was discussed, Princess Jacel Kiram said she is optimistic.
"Personally, I am positive that what has been talked about is for the interest and protection of the Filipino people," she told reporters after a forum on the Sabah issue on Tuesday.
Kiram also called Roxas' meeting with her uncle a "good gesture, one step forward towards a peaceful resolution to the issue."
She wouldn't comment, however, on reports that the sultanate's troops in Sabah would "disengage."
Kiram maintained that the sultanate's forces won't surrender.
"We are firm in our stand that surrender is not acceptable," she said.
