Trillanes: Trust PNoy on Sabah issue
MANILA – Senator Antonio ‘Sonny’ Trillanes IV on Friday said the public should trust the decisions of President Aquino on the Sabah conflict.
Trillanes said the public can “easily criticize” the government, but trusting the President on foreign policy “is part of the vote that we gave him in 2010.”
“Kapag foreign policy ang pinapag-usapan, siya lang ang sole origin ng foreign policy. So at this point in time, we have just to trust in him na ‘yung information na he is privy to ay ginagamit niya to good use at ‘yung desisyon niya is anchored on the best interest of our country,” he told dzMM.
Trillanes also said now is not the time for finger-pointing, and the government should instead focus on the safety of the Filipinos in Sabah.
“Ngayon ang pinaka-importante gawin is to look out for the safety and welfare ng mga nandodoon sa Sabah, not just the followers of Kiram but the migrant workers as well,” he said.
The senator added that the President has been “receptive” in their discussions on how to address the conflict in Sabah.
