MANILA,Philippines - Two days after the match, sellers of pirated DVDs are complaining that bootleg copies of the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight are not selling as much as DVDs of previous Pacquiao fights.

"Lugi! (I lost money!)" said Jo Hara, a seller of pirated DVDs in a black market stall in Quiapo district. 'Yung 300 piraso di naubos eh. Mahina, walang bumibili kaya bargain kami dito lahat (The 300 pieces didn't sell out. Sales are weak, no one is buying so everybody is selling at a bargain)."

Last year, pirated DVDs of Pacquiao's November 14 fight against Puerto Rican champion Miguel Cotto sold for as much as P50 to P100 ($1-$2)  a piece. Demand was so high that stocks were sold out and more pirated copies were produced.

On the other hand, pirated DVDs of the Pacquiao-Clottey match are selling for as low as P10 ($0.21) and nobody is buying.

One seller said the poor sales reflect a general lack of interest in the fight because it was both boring and had no knockouts, a staple of previous Pacquiao fights.

"Clottey was too scared. There was no action so sales are down. No one is looking for those DVDs because the fight wasn't very good," said seller Eric Salvador.

The Optical Media Board, meanwhile, said Filipino buyers should not patronize pirated DVDs since these are illegal. Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
