Delfin Lee not on list of PNoy campaign donors
MANILA - A Palace official could not verify if Globe Asiatique housing scam defendant Delfin Lee is a campaign contributor of President Aquino in the 2010 presidential elections.
Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda was asked on Friday if Lee was a contributor.
"The lists of contributors and donors have been published by the Commission on Elections (Comelec). I think you can see it from there whether he is a campaign contributor," he said. "But I have no specific information on who is a campaign donor."
"There is a pending case before him. We have never shied away from prosecuting anyone that has been charged. So, the DOJ, insofar as the government is concerned, will prosecute its case against Delfin Lee," Lacierda said.
Lacierda was a member of Aquino's 2010 campaign team.
Lee's name does not appear in the statement of contributions submitted by the Aquino campaign to the Comelec.
Ninety-six receipts are covered by the statement of contributions amounting to P440,050,000.
These are for donations received from February 9 to May 8, 2010, the official campaign period for the presidential election.
Among the more prominent names in the list are the President's sisters, Ballsy and Pinky, as well as other members of the Cojuangco-Aquino clan.
Lee was arrested recently after a long manhunt. His arrest became controversial because of allegations that an alleged "protector" of Lee tried to stop his arrest.
Earlier this week, Aquino indirectly lashed out at Lee's captor, Task Force Tugis chief Senior Supt. Conrad Capa.
Aquino did not name Capa but he castigated a police official who undertook a media blitz after refusing a new position.
Capa complained about being transferred to Philippine National Police Region 7, days after he captured Lee at a hotel in Manila.
