President Arroyo on Wednesday declared Black Saturday, April 11, as a special nonworking holiday.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita made the announcement during a press conference in Malacañang Palace. He said employees required to work on that date should be given additional compensation under Department of Labor and Employment guidelines.
Mrs. Arroyo earlier declared April 6 a holiday in observance of Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor). April 9 (Holy Thursday) and April 10 (Good Friday) are regular holidays.
