Villar urged to do a 'Manny' on fake psych report
MANILA, Philippines - Senatorial candidate Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim on Monday urged Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar to replicate another famous "Manny" and apologize for releasing a fake psychiatric report that claimed Liberal Party presidential candidate Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III was clinically depressed and smoked marijuana.
In a statement, the detained general said Villar should follow the example of businessman Manny Pangilinan who "took the responsibility of owing up to his indiscretion.”
“I urge Senator Villar to do a Manny Pangilinan. A true national leader is capable of acknowledging when he is at fault, whether he or his people caused the transgression. As such, I ask, can Villar do that? Can he swallow his pride and admit wrongdoing?" Lim said in a statement.
The fake report, which bore the header of the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Department of Psychology and allegedly signed by Fr. Carmelo "Tito" Caluag, alleged that Aquino has a history of smoking, drinking and the use of marijuana.
Caluag and the ADMU Department of Psychology have both revealed that the report is fake while ABS-CBN revealed that the documents came from sources from the Nacionalista Party. The NP has denied issuing the fake report.
Lim said the mere fact that institutions such as ABS-CBN and Ateneo De Manila University already confirmed that the alleged psychiatric analysis of Aquino was fake and was sourced from the NP are enough reasons for Villar to seek apology and owe responsibility. Lim is running as a guest candidate of both the Liberal Party and Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino.
“Instead of cashing in on this propped up controversy which is only wasting our time and hurting many people, Villar should be responsible enough to order his people to stop from further escalating the issue,” the detained military official said.
Lim said Villar's challenge to address the issues contained in the fake psychiatric report "flies in the face of logic."
“To begin with, the document is a forgery. So how could somebody respond to such a report without making a fool of himself? Naturally, Noynoy will not dignify this,” Lim said.
He said that instead of mudslinging, presidential candidates should engage in a passionate and communicative “platform brawl.”
“Let’s prove to the voting public we are deserving of their votes. Let’s be the candidates they want us to be,” he said.

(2)Hacienda Luisita is not to be considered as platform too... hehe, pinabulaanan na yan ng mga ibang members ng conjuanco plan na ipapamigay ni Noynoy ang lupa sa mga magsasaka after 5 years. Minanipula ni Cory ang CARP during her presidency at hanggang ngayon wala pa din linaw dyan sa kaso na yan against HLI. (3) Stand on taxes? I tell you, bolero ang presidentiable na nangako na wala ng taxes na ipapataw sa mga mamamayang pilipino. (4) Economic plans? Where, how and when did Noynoy show or even shared his plans? He has not even alleviated the lives of his constituents in Tarlac in his 9 years stint in Congress. He has not even passed a single law on any economic plan/strategy of whatever you may call it. So how do you think will he be able to do this for the whole country? (5)Agriculture - he and his family is facing a very big problem on HLI which is indirectly related to agriculture. If he is able to give concrete solution to the problem of HLI and its farmers then maybe many farmers will believe him.
Pero I admire hime for (5) Anti-corruption campaign. He seems strong on this. Although I still doubt his credibility on this simple because, he and his family are all corrupts. It has been proven time and again that the Cojuancos were the one who ransacked Malacanang when the Marcoses fled. It was the Kamaganak Inc. that really flourished at the time of President Cory Aquino... the only benefit that the Filipino people was able to have during her presidency was DEMOCRACY... which is being abused now by many Filipinos.

I don’t think Villar will recover from now until election time. Here's the scenario, Voters’ thinking can be swayed by propaganda, true, but only to a certain extent.
That point is summed up by this Abraham Lincoln quote: “You can fool some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time.” (Now, replace “people” with “voters.”)
Villar’s success in the ratings game can be largely attributed to his spending for campaign ads like there is no tomorrow from the money he stole from the Filipino people.
But he so bombarded TV viewers with his jingles (poor kid in Tondo - A big lie) and claims—for a long time now and in big doses---that the point of saturation, or should I say monotony, has been reached. The NP ads can no longer offer anything new and can't save his reputation.
And while the effect of the intense propaganda drive has plateaued, the truth of the claims in his campaign ads is slowly but surely being exposed into a big lie and fabricated. Those ads presented a Villar covered in a shell of credibility. But credibility is a fragile material; once it cracks, it can no longer be restored. And his critics have successfully shattered that credibility by exposing the truth.
Without that credibility, Villar and NP spin doctors cannot hope to regain lost ground by merely rehashing old issues against Aquino in the hope that it will make them look good. Surveys have shown that Noynoy’s support has remained solid. Instead, it is Villar’s base that has been proven to be fragile, built as it is on a campaign ads mirage.
What should worry Villar is not that Aquino will continue to pull away from him in the surveys; rather, it is that Erap Estrada is nibbling at his (Villar’s) lead.
