Marcos willing to work with Noynoy Aquino

MANILA, Philippines - The son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos on Tuesday said he is willing to work with Liberal Party presidential bet Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino if they are both victorious in the coming elections.

Speaking to ANC's "Headstart", Nacionalista Party guest senatorial candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said he does not see a problem with working under an Aquino presidency despite the long history of animosity between their two political families.

"I can work harmoniously with anyone. It’s work. Wala naming personalan dito. But of course, if I agree with the president, whoever it is, then of course I will support them, but if I don’t think they’re doing the right thing, then I would oppose them. This is an issues case," Marcos told anchor Karen Davila.

The 52-year-old congressman admitted that name recall has a lot to do with his good ratings in the pre-election surveys for the senatorial race. He said, however, that he hopes the public would vote for him for his own merits and not because his famous father, the late president Ferdinand Marcos.

"I guess people believe that I deserve to be a senator. We are happy that we are getting our message across and people are taking on that message for the fight against poverty," he said.

Marcos dispelled speculation that he is eyeing the presidency in the future, saying that he ran for the Senate because he felt he could contribute more to national politics.

He also revealed that he has a slightly ambivalent view towards pursuing the presidency because of the experiences of living with his father.

"I’ve seen the private face of the presidency and it’s a tough, tough job. If you’re not having a tough time and losing a great deal of sleep, you’re not stressed out, and you’re not working very, very hard…16 hours a day, every single day of the week, then you are not doing it right. I have a slightly ambivalent view of the presidency, which is not the same as others," he said.

He added: "When my father was president, like any father, he was very keen that I would follow in his footsteps so that I would go into politics. I resisted in every way that I could for the simple reason that I thought he was so dominant in the political arena that I would never make a name for myself."

'I don't believe my father was corrupt'

Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was president of the Philippines from 1966 to 1986, much of it as a dictator whose brutal rule was marked by massive rights abuses and the disappearance of thousands of opposition activists. The Marcos family is believed to have plundered government coffers of up to $10 billion during its rule, sending the once prosperous Southeast Asian country into poverty from which it has never recovered.

A 1986 "people power" revolt toppled Marcos Sr. from power, sending his family into exile in Hawaii, where the strongman died three years later.

Bongbong, however, believes that none of the accusations are true and that his father did not take a single centavo of taxpayers' money during his term.

"I don’t believe my father was corrupt. I certainly do not believe that. What people don’t seem to understand is that my father was a wealthy man before he became president. He was one of the top lawyers in the Philippines before he became president. He had worked as a lawyer just after the war. Even during his time as congressman, when he became senator and the political work became more demanding, he was a smart fellow. He knew how to make money. He didn’t need to steal money on his own," he said.

He also pointed out that history would be a better judge of his father's legacy, noting that the 1986 EDSA revolution did nothing to improve the country's economy.

"I think the only way to judge these things is by historical fact. Are we better off now than we were before? That is the essential question to every political event. Did this event bring us to a better place or not?...The times since 1986 have been much harder than they were previously," he said.

Bets should take psycho test

Marcos said that if he is elected senator, he would work at increasing the budget for the education sector.

He also said he is for amending some provisions of the Constitution including extending the term limits of local officials.

"I think there are many aspects of the Constitution that are either obsolete or no longer relevant to the political conditions that we are in. For example, term limits. Maybe 3 years for congressman or governor is a little too quick. This is for local office. Even the multi-party system has come into question. There is something wrong when there is no political cost for someone jumping ship from one party to another," he said.

Marcos said he supported the candidacy of NP presidential bet Manny Villar because he sincerely believes that the former Senate president can end poverty in the country. He also denied that the political party was responsible for the release of a fake psychiatric report that said Aquino had a history of depression and even smoked marijuana.

He added, however, that he supports Villar's call that every candidate undergo a psychiatric test to determine if they are mentally fit to rule the country.

"Since the subject has been brought up, it seems people now are issuing the challenge to all candidates. It’s not an unreasonable request. If you are a soldier and you have to be promoted, you go through a psychiatric test. Even a policeman, sure. I’d be very curious to see how many candidates pass," he said. -- With a report from Agence France-Presse

On bong bong marcos

Sure, bong bong marcos was just little when these things happened, however, he grew up from all the "proceeds of crime" compliments of his dad and mom. He wouldn't be able to tell whenever he has his birthdays with his two other siblings if the money comes from his dad's wage. Are you kidding me, his dad never see his own paycheck, he doesn't have to with all the money stashed all over the world, who needs it. Not even a drop in a barrel. I could not fathom in my wildest imagination of what he will be doing when he become president. Perhaps, those farmers from virginia will come and help us. However, this may come true in a short period of time. Remember, money can buy anything.

Just a thought.

On bong bong marcos

Yeah right, he shouldn't be judged just because of his late dad's past transgression, and besides, he was only little when his dad was ransacking lands all over the philippines, sending people to bicutan to have their forced vacation compliments of the metrocom, sending all the people in the media that he doesn't care about to jail for an indefinite period of time without court representation. I could go on and on on this, but, i rather not.

Just a thought.

On bong bong marcos

I thought i was reading it wrong, but then again that's exactly what's in the paper. Whoever thought that the hide on this guy is similar if not exactly the same as the hide of a rattle snake. Are you kidding me! This will be like asking someone that you just kicked in the gut during a tennis match and asked for forgiveness later. Aquino should be very cautious of this offer, or should i say, extremely cautious. For this guy to come up with some idea that he could pare up with aquino is like saying, "well, no one else liked me but you". What does he think of aquino? some kind of a guy who has some words written on his forehead that says "I am stupid". The only thing that i could think of to say to bong bong marcos is, GO TO HELL and look after your dad. Oh wait a minute, his dad is still in the fridge, isn't he?

Just a thought.

filipino people are SOO DUMBED!!!

as i read comments here, very SAD to think that you people are BLINDED by the black propaganda's. sad to think that the're still SHEEPS FOLLOWING SHEEP PROTESTORS, how can you people call your self filipino? in tagalog mga "WALANG HIYA AT UTANG NA LOOB". how dare you people beDEVILLED the greatest philippine president, the president who built philippine heart center, lung center, kidney center, orthopedic center, east ave. med. center, philippine children's hospital, san juanico bridge and major bridges, NLEX, SLEX, MARCOS HIGHWAY, MIA, ANGAT DAM, MAGAT DAM, GEOTHERMAL PLANTS, and many others that until TODAY, it is philippine's main source of INCOME AND INVESTMENTS. and the kicker? BNPP(bataan nuke. power plant) could have produce TRILLIONS of dollars. MORE THAN ON WHAT YOU HAVE ACCUSED PRES. MARCOS OF STEALING. wake up guys... take away those RANCOR'S IN YOUR HEART... OR ELSE... HINDI NA NGA UUNLAD ANG BANSANG ITO....

Grand disillusion!

Marcos Jr is another specimen of the kind of mentally handicapped politician we regularly see in the Filipino political arena! He lives in his own fantasy world, seeing politics through his specially-made rose-tinted spectacles. In the beautiful world of Marcos Jr, Daddy did no wrong, just spent his time walking on water. I think that all those who aspire to become president of the Philippines ought to undergo a Psychiatric test. Indeed I propose that it ought to be a requirement for all those who want to run for the Senate!

Cinderella's shoes

"Bongbong, however, believes that none of the accusations are true and that his father did not take a single centavo of taxpayers' money during his term."

How can Bongbong explain his mother's record-breaking feat in owning thousands of shoes and rare gems thru a Presidents' paycheck?
Now since he is making a comeback, I guess it's always a prestige in breaking a family's record. Next target, most Nike shoes in the world!

He-he-he!

"I think the only way to judge these things is by historical fact. Are we better off now than we were before? That is the essential question to every political event. Did this event bring us to a better place or not?...The times since 1986 have been much harder than they were previously,..."

Before 1986, the Philippines had already sunk behind Taiwan, Singapore, Hongkong, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Taiwan was already making computers but the Philippines was still importing paper clips.

The reason for the retardation of the Philippines is either Marcos Sr. was corrupt or he was a dumb president.

I know he's not dumb. I admired his intelligence. He's perhaps the most intelligent and capable President.

But corruption destroys everything and the damage takes a long time to repair because it starts a cycle of corruption and retardation. We are still where we are now because of the tremendous damage done to the country before 1986 and we're still in the cycle.

Thus we have to learn from the past. Vote for people with Integrity so that laws will be created to greatly reduce corruption. Once corruption is insignificant, we can choose people who are very capable. If we don't elliminate corruption, capable but corrupt people will still run our country and will feed the cycle of corruption and retardation.

LIES, LIES, LIES

"Marcos said he supported the candidacy of NP presidential bet Manny Villar because he sincerely believes that the former Senate president can end poverty in the country."

Common Bongbong, if failed to end poverty in Ilocos Norte despite being its governor for more almost a decade, how can Villiar do it in six(6) years?

Your father was in power for 20 years, with absolute control of all government machineries, and yet he failed to end poverty in the Philippines.

DO YOU MEAN TO SAY VILLIAR IS BETTER THAN YOUR FATHER?

Or VILLIAR will do a MARCOS by perpetuating himself as president for life that is why he is moving heaven and hell, but more of the latter, to win in this election.

Marcos's slogan of "ASIKASONG TULOY-TULOY" signifies of the family's greed for holding power in the Philippines for life.

WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THEIR PUBLIC APOLOGY, REPENTANCE, AND REPARATION for the ills, sufferings, and wrongdoings that the MARCOS family had brought to the Philippines.

May God give Bongbong the courage and wisdom to do so.

Al-FILIBUSTERISMO

hay...

kapal. hindi sana mahirap ang bayan natin now...mga banyaga ang naghahanap ng work sa pinas para makitrabaho...alang ofw...sige lang macoy jr., sabihin mo lahat gusto mo sabihin sa puso mo...

the nerve of you

The nerve of you mr. marcos to ask if we were better off now compared during the decades your father was president. We were not better off now compared before because your father stole the precious 20 years to empower and enrich himself, which should have been used to nurture the Philippines into a more politically matured and democratic nation.

We are not better off now compared before because your father and your family has sowed the seeds of corruption, the reason why corruption has become so rampant now.

We are not better off now compared before because you have deprived the Filipinos several times to elect the leader that they wanted.

We may be better off during the first few years during your father's regime because your father has inherited an instution that is standing on solid ground, but your father has ruined it.

We are not better off now because recent presidents have admired too much your father, that they tried and attempted to extend their terms, in the very vicious ways your father did.

We are not better off now because the sovereign will of the people have been bastardized several times, and your father started all this.

We are not better off now because of your father.
