Teodoro takes 2-day break, conducts loyalty check
MANILA, Philippines - Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro has cancelled 2 days of campaigning to fix the troubles hounding the administration party.
Teodoro gathered party leaders in a closed-door meeting in Makati Wednesday to conduct a loyalty check.
The meeting came after a series of resignations and defections of Lakas-Kampi-CMD stalwarts.
The latest to leave the party was President Arroyo's economic adviser Albay Governor Joey Salceda.
Reginald Velasco, deputy secretary-general of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, said they want to know who are truly for Teodoro. They also want to rally the troops and ask them how the defections will affect the party.
At a hastily called press conference in Quezon City on Wednesday, members of the so-called "Green Team 2010" reiterated their support for Teodoro, who has lost several party mates.
The party's new chairman Amelita Villarosa herself said more members could bolt as the elections near.
There are also rumors that members of the Arroyo Cabinet, including Finance Secretary Gary Teves, former Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya, are soon jumping ship.
But Lakas-Kampi-CMD's secretary-general Ray Roquero denied this, saying it was black propaganda waged by Teodoro's opponents.
Aquino sees more defections
But if Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino Jr. is to be believed, more Lakas-Kampi officials will follow Joey Salceda's move and join his camp.
Aquino tapped Salceda to serve as the LP's chairman in the Bicol region.
"Meron pang iba pang darating. At hintayin ko sila magdeklara para di ma-preempt ang kanilang announcement. At di lang sa administration party, meron iba pang panggagalingan. But I’m not at liberty to say it. I did agree they will do it in their own time," Aquino said on Wednesday,
For Aquino's chief rival, Senator Manny Villar, Salceda's decision to join the Liberals proves there is no secret alliance between the Nacionalista Party and the administration camp.
Villar also denied there are on-going talks between his camp and Lakas-Kampi vice chairman Prospero Nograles.
Nograles earlier threatened to bolt Lakas-Kampi, complaining that he was being left out. He said the party leadership has been making decisions without consulting him.
But the Speaker is now consulting former President and Lakas-CMD co-founder Fidel Ramos on how to save the ruling party. -- report from Julius Babao for ANC

Nothing could be more hypocritical than the Nacionalista Party’s (NP’s) motto, “noon at ngayon marangal.” As we push towards the final month before election day, the steady stream of hardcore GMA allies going to NP goes on unabated. There is truth to Manny Villaroyo
But the Villaroyo partnership is not of two powerful individuals, not of Gloria Arroyo and Manny Villar. The partnership is among Gloria allies and Villaroyo allies who were once under one roof, shared the same spoils and played the same policy tunes. It is just like one person having two personas who are in a love-hate relationship but agreed in the end that they both want the ring. It seems the more appropriate battlecry for Manny Villaroyo is “Malacanang-My Precious.” The Gloria allies and Manny Villaroyo allies are Manny Villaroyo's two personas.
Which begs the question: Is Manny Villaroyo really in control of his party? Or do the puppet masters behind him already have an understanding with the power brokers of GMA that no matter what, tuloy ang ligaya. Anyway wala na si GMA sa Malacañang. Nasa Congress na. As it is laid out, the same machinery and interests which benefited from a GMA-Villaroyo-NP regime in 2001-2005 will also stand to benefit in an Villaroyo-NP-GMA regime in 2010-2016 if ever. No policy shifts. No program overhauls. No new faces. Land grabbing (Adelfa Properties) stays monkey business as usual . TOPAK or "Trapos, Oportunistas, and Villaroyo's parasites and leeches Inc." reverberates a thousand fold till the next presidential elections. A Manny Villaroyo presidency is another six years of GMA allies and former allies. Another six years of failed policies and false promises. Just look at the familiar faces in NP—they are too glaring not to see.

Imbes na manatili siya sa NPC na hindi kunektado kay Gloria, lumipat sa Lakas-Kampi. Unless na kasama yan sa Villaroyo plan, eh kabobohan yung maging kakampi ni Gloria.
Namuno ng Lakas-Kampi tapos iniwanan dahil hindi kaya. Ibig sabihin, mahina ang projection ability niya.
Tagilid pa ang Pilipinas dahil bilang Presidente, baka biglang bumitiw kung hindi niya makaya.

Are you dreaming on Gloriaquino! Maybe you have not read a single newspaper or you are not used to watching news in your TV. Year 2005, the Late President Cory Aquino and LP have asked GMA to resign because of Hello Garci scandal. The Aquino burned the bridge GMA used to pass when she wants to ask advise from Iconic Cory Aquino. So where is the connection that you want to justify your claim? By the way are you getting higher fee on your articles since the election is getting nearer and your client Vllaroyo is becoming difficult to depend, it is quite difficult to make reasons because of a lot of land grabbing scandals. Ask for a raise.heh . Maybe you can use more of Psylom, I missed his article.. By the way are you really an OFW based in Dubai, I just cannot believe an OFW is working for Villaroyo. Most of us will vote for Noynoy.. Just to check if you are really working in Dubai, can you name the last Dubai Metro Rail station if you board from Jebel Ali Station, also can you name the area where the first and only Jollibee Store is located.
It is important that we can elect a president who do not have a sullied past , who has an impeccable integrity that will lead our country to grow and away from endemic corruptions that we had for almost 10 years.
